Question about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee turns over, but does not want to start until the 2nd or 3rd turn. It starts perfect after that, but idles rough. Have changed spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and used injector and carbeurator cleaner. I have noticed the battery meter sets around 9 and boosts to 14 when it finally starts. Is this normal or should I have full power when the key is on? Could it be a problem with the fuel pump?
Battery should be around 12V the alternator puts out 14V. Sounds like a fuel problem, leaking injectors or injector's O-rings. Weak or faulty fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, faulty fuel regulator. Try this, when starting the car while cold. Put the key all the way to the ON position, wait five to ten seconds then crank the car to start. It should start the first time the longer you give it the more fuel pressure there will be to start the car.
