Car wont start, will not reset, security light always on

I have a 2003 Alero. The security light has been on constantly for the last month and now the car will not start, it will crank but wont start. Use to be when the car didn't start I could reset the code with waiting 10 minutes, etc but now the light just stays on and car wont reset or start.

Im having the same issues. a temporary solution is that you turn the key to the "on" position, and leave it without cranking it over for 10 minutes..after 10 minutes the security light should stop flashing and become constantly on. at this time turn off the car and turn it back on to crank the engine..if it fails the first time just recrank it again..it started up on the second crank for me..apparently ive been reading that it is the ignition switch.

Try locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key. [sometimes if you reach to un lock door through window it it sets off security]

Car wont start

Could be the linkage between the lock cylinder and the switch, or the trick was just a red herring and had nothing to do with the problem.
Will it crank in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter ?

Car wont crank

My 2003 Oldsmobile alero does this on occasion. Turn the key over just to the on position, not the acc (all the way) position. You will see the security light blinking during this time. After ten minutes, the light will stop flashing and you can now turn the key OFF and then crank the car. It's annoying but so simple.

Could be the key switch or the neutral safety switch. Will it crank in neutral instead of park ?

I have a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero 3.4L that wont start. I have done fuel pressure test 50-55 psi and plugs have good spark. However when done light test on injectors there is no response so there is no pulse....

Is the security light staying on ?
Usually the engine will not crank and you have no power to the fuel pump if the security system is disabling the car.
No injector pulse but spark would point to the computer since both use input from the crank and cam sensors.

Oldsmoble Alero ignition security problem

It doesn't have to be the security. a dead battery won't let the car crank either. With a security problem the car will crank but not start. The security can be reset if the battery is charged and up. Turn the key on ( do'nt crank ) the security light will stay on if it needs to be reset. If it remains on leave the key on for 15 minutes around then it will go out. turn the key off and then turn it right back on, the security light will be on again. Leave the key on till the light goes out again, then turn it off then turn it back on , wait again when it goes out turnthe key off then right back on then crank the engine and it should start. With a scanner the code will be security neweds to be reset. Thia is all anyone can do to reset the security and it's what you were charged $450 for. Following directions.

My 2003 ols Alero turns over and wont start. Sometimes it does. Crank trigger has been changed as well as fuel modulator. Back at the shop without a clue.

Is the security light blinking when this happens? (right hand side of the dash?) If so, it may be your passlock fuel shut off is going wacko? In the manual it tells how to reset the system. It involves leaving the key on for ten minutes until the security light stops blinking, shutting the key off, and then starting the vehicle. Check your manual. I had the 'no start' problem. I had it towed to the mechanic (with the key in the on position) and by the time I got there, it started.

Wont start security light stays on

Body Control Module (BCM) on both counts. Find a shop in your town that specializes in electrical systems to test it. Beware, these can be intermittent problems, so make sure they keep it until the car does what you have observed. Expect to spend about $450 for the replacment. Dealers quoted me between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. By the way, a new BCM will probably only last you about 12 months.
