Question about 1999 Toyota Avalon
I recently removed and replaced the rear struts on my 99 avalon, when completed i drove the car and the ABS light was on. the car brakes no different then prior to the stur rewplacement. Can I get the light off with out taking it to the dealer? thanks Chuck
Its possible you damaged a rear wheel speed sensor when you did the strut job. If the wire was pulled tight when the strut was removed it could have pulled the copper strands in the wire from the sensor causing a open circuit. This is not uncommon. You need to have the ABS system scanned for codes and see which rear wheel sensor is effected. If you were to just clear the code it will just come back on. With the ABS light on, the ABS system is deactivated and the brake system works normally as a car without ABS.
