Missing in van

I have a 1999 e250 5.4 with about 166000 mile on it and every so often it starts to miss. I throw a little injector cleaner in and it goes away after a couple days. Then a month or two will go buy and its back. The check engine light does come on when this is happening. I am going to change plugs and wires this weekend,is their anything that i should look at as well. When the van is running good it don't miss a beet so i'm starting with the poor man solution first

Sounds like you have a coil pack going bad. If you can get a hold of a code reader you will probably come up wit a code of PO301, 302, ...PO308, These codes are missfire codes the last number being the cylinder it misfired in. Change the coil on the cylinder that comes up with the misfire code number, clear the codes and retest it. You should be good to go.

Well in that case get the fuel cleaned/replaces if required and being an MPFI(multi Point fuel injection) system the only place to be cleaned is the injector nozzles, which you have already started cleaning it with injector cleaner which is a tempory sokution. If getting it cleaned is not too costly you should think about it and changing the wiring won't be of much help unless they are faulty....sodeep

missing is not always the plugs ,HT leads distributor . Most times it is from misfiring injectors and low fuel pressure.

# 5 injector is miss firing is there a injector cleaner i can use the van runs a little rough

I wonder how they know it is an injector and not a plug or ignition problem ?
Yes Seafoam is a good product as well as other cleaners. If the injector is faulty cleaning will not solve the problem.

1997 astro misses at 50-60 mph with steady pedal pressure. when under acceleration runs fine. Also misses while passing through lower gears when starting from a stop.

This sounds like a partially blocked fuel injector. Easy fix is to run a bottle of STP or some other type of fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. You should see some improvement within 100 miles of driving. More costly but faster is take the car to a shop that cleans fuel injectors. Hope this helps

You most likely have an injector not pulsing or is restricted, try some lucas fuel treatment and see if it will clear it up,one bottle of lucas, and the least amount of fuel ,this will make it clean faster and better, you should see results in one mile or two,if it does not help, injector replacement might be the only solution.

The fuel injector will be the problem. Add a injector cleaner such as Gunout and drive it fo 50 miles on the highway. If that does not clean it the injector needs a replacement

How many miles do you have on the car? Did is just start missing or been doing it for awhile? Have you changed your fuel filter?

1999 Silverado 5.3L hesitation ?

Filling it up with 92 octane will not help you so save your money to get other cool **** . If you want to put higher grade gas to the 89 ,but 87 will do the trick. Have you checked your pcv valve and hoses you might have a vaccum leak.
