Question about 1995 GMC Yukon

1 Answer

Check engine light and stalling seems to be slipping out of gear.

1995 GMC Yukon check engine light comes on, seems to make a grinding/rattling sound at times. Recently a new problem started, it seemed to be running just fine then suddenly the RPM's went up to around 4000 but I wasn't able to get past 30 mph. It seems to be slipping out of gear, but I'm not sure. I would turn off the truck and start it up again and it would run for about a minute or so then do the same thing. I had someone look at it, they said it sounded like a gear tooth was broken or not catching somewhere but after about two hours of what they said was fixing it the truck is still doing the same thing.

It has been scanned but I don't have the code for it. I don't even remember him giving me one. Do I need to have it rescanned and see what codes come up before I can really tell what the problem is?

You said the check engine light is on. Have you had it scanned? What is the code number?

It would make it easier to diagnose. Do you know if it is OBD 1 or 2? If it is 1 you can retrieve the codes with a paper clip. If it is 2, take it to autozone, they will scan it for free and give you the code.

2004 gmc yukon rattling and pinging under hood and inside. Loud inside and sounds like it's fluid moving with the rattle. Not wet inside of the truck.

These engines don't rattle and especially ping unless they are hot. And the sound of fluid thru the heater core. Tells me you are low on coolant. The engine is not cheap to replace.

My 95 yukon wont shift in to 3rd gear ?

I think you have two separate issues

First get all the codes & fix the ABS issues first

I think you'll find the trans is due for a rebuild, sorry, if that doesn't turn out to be the case.
It is slipping for some reason & that isn't fixable without a tear down

There is a horrible rattling noise in the front end of our 03 gmc yukon xl. i think the 4wd linkage is broken.

It sounds more like a possibly bad CV joint in an axle shaft or internal differential problem. There is no mechanical linkage to the front axle, its all electronically controlled. The front suspension is pretty good there aren't a lot of rattle type noises created from it. I need more info to diagnose better. Does it do it only moving? or stopped? over bumps only? in 4wd only? while turning? certain gears or speed only?

1998 Yukon high idle sound with bad gas mileage.

What you have is the torque converter clutch, cycling on and off.
When it is off.your rpm will go up and your milage will go down
First-check to see if your brake switch, on the back of the brake peddle, is loose or misadjusted. When you apply the brakes, the first thing to happen, is that you unlock the converter,so your trans is not connected directly to the motor,or you would stall. Then below 42 MPH,your trans is working off the converter, as a pressure multiplier ,based on rpm
Second- switch okey. You remove trans pan and change TCC Solenoid.

Let me know if if you need more guidance

1995 gmc yukon.third gear & od slips doesn't engage. check engine light came on, but i disconnected the batt. and that cleared the comp. i believe it is the sensors that tell the vortex engine and...

It sounds like your Yukon is running on the limp mode. On the limp mode, the truck will not go pass third gear. it could be as simple as tune up such as getting a miss fire will cause your Yukon to go in the limp mode.
Not sure if your Yukon is still running OBD1 system, that year was the change over year. Here is a link if it is a ODB1 system for you go retrieve the DTC codes. If your Yukon is on the OBD2 system, then your going to have to get it scanned. I believe Auto Zone can scan it for you free of charge.
Good luck and hope this helps you out, Oh and Auto Zone has the step by step instruction to the repairs need to be done to your Yukon.
