Question about 1998 Cadillac DeVille
I have changed thermostat and hoses. there is no water in the oil. i dont think my fans work properly but dont know? i have not changed water pump but i do not see any leaks but i know it loses water? my upper hose neverfeels like it has any water in it i need help i have owned 96 caddy and 93 caddy and i have never had a problem this is my favorite cadillac and it throw a fit. i do not like northstarmotors i need some suggestions please.
Yes he is right. Head Gasket's blown are very common in this northstar engine. But also, it will not bubble out of the coolant tank once you very first start it up even if you do have a bad Head Gasket. There is not enough pressure, now if the car is pretty hot, and you turn it off and turn it on and you see it shoot out, then yes. But most common way to check is to pressurize the coolant system, plus the spark plugs. As far as your fans, most people now-a-days and even mine, have the fans hooked up to a switch where i can turn them on myself. But even with them constanty running it will overheat. Don't waste money on a water pump or anythingelse like i did. I bought a water pump, radiator, radiator cap, thermostat, new fan relay, and still same problem. But yes your Head's are most likely gone.
