In this case i would advise you to buy a slave cylinder not the kit because these somtimes tend to work for a short time.

its easy to replace, first pull off the break line then the 2 bolts that hold it in place at the back of the hub. please note the drum has to come off let off park break tap with a rubber mallet or what ever u can find near to that.

Brakes on rear passenger side it leaking brake fluid..what is the part call to get it fixed. my brother said it was the master cyclinder but now he believes it is like a brake wheel cyclinder

if you have drum brakes on the rear of the car and the leak is at the back of the car the part is called a wheel cylinder if the leak is coming from inside the brake drum.

Brake fluid is leaking from inside the rear drum break

Hi!!
Most likely the Wheel Cylinder seals are leaking, you can replace the Rear Wheel Cylinder for $12.99 or you can just replace the seals, sold as a kit for $2.20, at most auto parts stores. Here are pics of both.

Hi i own a 1998 chevy siliverado and my brakes are not working adequately, im not losing break fluid so im unsure of the problem

If the pedal seems really hard to push, you could have a bad brake booster. If the pedal feels OK but there is not much action from the brakes, there could be an internal leak in your master cylinder. If your vehicle is equipped with Antilock Brakes, it could be a bad Hydraulic Control Unit.

The cyclinder costs about 10 bucks at the partds store and if you change it before the fluild gets on the shoes your done of course the shoes being worn out are the readon most cyclinders leak. Shoes cost about 25 bucks and if you pay someone to do the work they should reconmend that whatever you do to one side you should do to the other side. turn or replace the drums repalace the springs ( 10 bucks) replace both wheel cylinders, Bleed the bakes all the way around till theirs new fluild in the whole system. I have a brake fluid leak. I dont know what the

The part is called the wheel cylinder. (Not to be confused with the master brake cylinder that is under the hood and provides the pressure for the brakes to operate.

On a 1993, I suspect you have drum brakes, so the part you are describing as a rotor, (and that looks, well, round like a rotor), is actually not called a rotor. That is reserved to describe the round heavy plate on the front wheels.

Newer cars actually would possible have disc brakes with rotors on the front and rear wheels.

More than likely, especially on a 1993 vehicle, the seals in the wheel cyclinder are shot. Not sure how hard it is to get replacement parts, but the same re-build kits would likely have been used on several years and models of GM cars from the early to mid-90s.

Leak from master cyclinder

Hi sgraham5,this is a pretty simple fix really, and not very expensive,do you plan to do the repair yourself or are you going to take it in? the diaphragm between the cyl and booster is shot and needs to be replaced you will have to take off the master cylinder. If you do this yourself buy a haynes or chilton manual for your car (which is great to have anyway) and you will have no problems, because this is related to your brakes you must make sure it is done right. If you like I can explain this in detail to you via chat as there are a few critical issues here let me know and good luck to you friend.

How to tell if the Brake Master Cyclinder is bad on 1991 VW Golf. About 4 months ago new front and rear brakes installed by repair shop. Front got both, new calipers, both new pads, both new rotors. ...

you can tell if the break master cyclinder is bad, if you don't have any break action or peddle to the floor, break is sticking, or any other break related symtom, not normal to your daily driving.
