Put a pressure tester on it and look where it is coming out. You say it's by the firewall, it may be one of the hoses that go to the heater.

Where is the coolant system

It's probably telling you that coolant (water & Antifreeze) is low. Container is at back of engine on firewall - typically next to the Brake master cylinder.

Refill up to the COLD mark when the engine is cold with 50/50 water and antifreeze. Close cap tight.

2002 Hyundai Elantra - My car overheated over the weekend and is not holding water or antifreeze.

It is highly possible the radiator has developed a leak in the upper and/or solder joints of the radiator. If it got hot enough it could melt the brazing and/or solder joints. You probably will not be able to see this with just your eyes but it would show up when pressure is built up inside the radiator when driving. Any competent auto shop can run a radiator pressure test to find the problem. Hope this helps.

How to bypass the condesor in a van

the A/C condenser doesnt leak, it may drip some water but thats from condensation. if you mean how do you bypass the heater core just remove the two hoses from the outlet on the firewall and connect them together with a coupler or remove one of them entirely and close loop the system. if you need to disable you A/C just unplug the condenser pump

Over heating , antifreeze leeking from that water

Hello,

If your water pump is leaking from the water pump for sure that is causing your over heating problem. I am sure that most likely the seal is gone. There is a main seal in the pump, and those are normally the first to go, and you are better off replacing the whole pump, that trying to fix it. Once your water pump is replaced , the over heating problem should be fixed. If pump is leaking it does not have the pressure provided to have the antifreeze and water to flow correctly through engine block and radiator.

Thanks Mike

No heat in cab f150 2002 extended cab the gauge shows that the engine is warm.

Check the antifreeze protection. Has it been more than 2 years since you changed it? If there's too much water, you need to add antifreeze. Or,you may need to replace the thermostat.

Antifreeze leak

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR until this problem is fixed! You could destroy the engine.

Many GM V6 engines of 1995-1999 had defective Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) gaskets (this is especially true for 3800 V6 engines). The antifreeze/coolant (especially orange DEX-Cool) will deteriorate the gasket material over time. If there are abnormal exhaust noises accompanying the leak, and/or the oil appears cloudy (check this immediately), you may have a blown head gasket or Lower Intake Manifold (LIM) gasket. Start with the UIM gasket.

The repair is detailed in the Haynes manual for that car ($17 at NAPA and Carquest), and (DIY) will take 5-8 hours plus a new gasket and RTV sealant (parts should be under $40 for all). A shop will charge $250-350 for this job.
