Question about 1986 Chevrolet El Camino
I have a 1986 Chevy El Camino, i removed the tilt steering colum housing to instal a new cruise wand in. After i got the wire fished thru i tried to put it back together but a black, greesed, plastic piece fell out. now my hi beam does not work and i can't figure out how to get it back together! I'm not sure if i broke something or just haven't figured it out. I can still activate the hi beams by pushing the steel rod but the directional/cruise/wiper/washer wand just flops back and forth without engaging the high beam rod. Thanks guys!
The plastic piece goes between the steel rod and cruise/wiper lever. You will have to remove the wheel and the upper bearing housing to get it back where it goes. If you put some wheel bearing grease on it then it will stay in place during reassembly.. Good Luck
