Question about 2000 Volkswagen Passat 4Motion

2000 VW Passat misfire

The car has a sputtering hesitation during initial acceleration. Auto Zone reading says Misfire in chamber #2. I changed the plugs and there was oil in my #2 plug slot. Assuming that's the problem, how do I fix it that no oil leaks in there? Any advice is appreciated.

Recently had a similar problem. It turned out to be the spark plugs. AutoZone, and such places, do not list the correct spark plugs for VW (or, at least my 2000 passat), which I used as part of a tune-up. While it cost me $45 from ECS tuning to get the correct NGK plugs, the car ran great afterward.

2001 Passat 1.8 Turbo engine sputtering and hesitating

My car was doing this and I had to get all new coil packs... Mine were replaced under recall at the dealership at no cost. If you take each code and google it, or even check a VW forum, I'm sure the members there can provide a lot more thorough information...... I have a 2001.5 Passat myself and when one thing goes out they all follow suit. I will help with some research for you and post back...... But I'd check the coil packs that sit atop the spark plugs.

2003 Expedition engine light flashes on/off when eccellerating took to Auto zone, code was P0301, changed out plug and COP still doing smaething. It sputters when accelerating. What wrong with it?

First, are you certain you changed the plug for number 1? If so, check the power connection to the COP. If it is dirty or loose that can cause a misfire also.

2000 passat ATQ, normally aspirated. Misfire #5. new coil pack, plugs, plug wires, good spark to #5 plug(visually checked) but still misfire #5 and no power during acceleration. What next? Thanks

Swap #5 injector with another one and see if the miss moves .
If the miss moves then the injector is faulty.
If the miss doesn't move do a compression test and get back to me .
Cheers

Firefire in cylinder four / random misfires

Its not likley to be an injector fault.the air mass meter is far more common.if you unplug it it defaults to a average value and should improve the way it runs if that is the problem.

2004 dodge caravan 2.4 Hesitates during Acceleration and at idele

You should definitely replace the fuel filter though this probably won't fix your hesitation. It wouldn't hurt to replace the spark plugs this is usually the culprit on these engine. I have the same engine in a '99 caravan and found the for some reason the spark plugs on cylinder 3 and 4 loosen up after one year and cause a misfire between 45 and 50 mph under load (when mildly accelerating).

Oil smell in my vw

Sounds like valve cover gaskets need to be changed - they're a common failure on the 30v engine. Fortunately, they're also relatively inexpensive ($25 per cylinder bank - you need two - from www.ecstuning.com). They're also easy to change. They'd easily explain your oil smell - oil leaks onto hot valve covers and burns. Also, the misfire could be (not a guarantee, but it's possible) a result of valve cover gaskets as well - there's the main gasket which seals around the edge of the valve cover, and a second gasket shaped like three rings. This trims and seals the openings around each of the spark plugs, where the plugs are inserted through the valve covers. If you're leaking there, you can drown the top end of the plug in oil. If that gets into the spark wire boot, it can cause a misfire.
