Question about 1983 Cadillac DeVille

2002 Caddy DeVille - slight vibration 60 to 75 mph

Purchased new tires last summer - felt the vibration, took the car in and they totally rebalanced the tires. Still vibrated a little but not bad. Put snow tires on and the vibration stopped until just this spring & then a slight vibration began again.

Now have the new tires back on (both sets have their own rims - new rims on new tires) and the vibration is there. Not bad but noticable enough to bug me

IF the vibration is there with the non-snow tires and gone with the snow tires, the it would be safe to assume that the new (non-snow) tires are at fault. they would have an internal cord separation problem (NOT GOOD). now if the problem is still there with the snow tires now and it was not last winter, then get your car checked for either a steering linkage problem - too much wear from a steering knuckle, also get your drive shafts checked - front wheel drive vehicles have two, rear wheel drive has a main shaft from transmission to differential, and the ones with rear independent suspension and rear wheel drive has two more driveshafts from differential to wheels. It is not a major problem right now but it will get bigger so kill the problem before that. you are on the hunt.lol. hope this helps you.

I would guess incorrectly tightened or installed wheel bearing. Or it might just need to get greaced.

when you rotate the tires and their is no change check the c/v axle -and hub 25k is not considered new have changed hubs that have gone bad at 10k -look into ball joints, upper lower bushings ,tie rod, struts the latter can cause vibration but usually at all speeds

Had new tires placed on vehicle and after rebalancing twice still have vibration in rear tires at 65 mph. Is this because the shop can not do high speed balancing or is it because of the vehicles 18"...

Go to a different shop have the tires checked. It sounds like you might have "wheel Hop" it is caused from a tire that is not perfectly round. It may be a defective tire.

You most likely need to get your wheels/tires rebalanced. Just for safety's sake you may want to get the suspension checked for any loose or worn parts, but my bet is that you just need to get your tires rebalanced and you will be good to go.

Steering wheel feels loose. Took to garage, had

This sounds like you need new track rod ends, this would cause free play in the steering, also it could be the bottom suspension arms. the garage should have checked these though! if the wheel is vibrateing then it may need the wheels rebalanced. if it is that you steering will shake at 60mph

Front end vibration

on both my Camrys, i had this problem. You could really notice it when you were driving down the road going 40-60 mph and punch the gas - car would vibrate, let off the gas - vibration stops, punch the gas - car vibrates...... On both, it was the CV joints. It is much easier to just replace the drive axles (with the new cv joints and boots already installed). For my last replacement, i think thy were only around $65 each.
