Set the timing on a 2002 ranger 3.0 what and where do you put the marks for tdc

Click on the link. I don't know your vin? This is for single overhead cam, line up the marks. You line up the marks before taking timing chain loose. Remove chain--camshaft gear--crankshaft gear as an assembly, install as an assembly.

Ignition timing is not adjustable.

I'm replacing the head gasket on a 95 Nissan altmia 2.4, do I need to put the engine at TDC before removing the cams and chain?

its a good idea to set the engine at TDC before disassembly. note the location of timing marks on crank and cams to familiarize your self when you go to re-install.

How do i set the valve timing if i cant see the timing marks on a VW 1.8 20valve golf cylinder head timing chain , i can only find the one on the belt side i have put the cam on TDC for the ex-valve but...

The 2 cams are linked with a chain at the rear of the cylinder head.

The cams need to be set so the slots on the chain sprockets line up with the cam tower caps with 16 links between cam caps.

You cannot see the front crank pulley tdc mark so you need to lock the engine at tdc with a screwdriver jammed into the timing hole on the bell housing after setting engine at tdc or use a DTI
to check to tdc in the #1 spark plug hole.

If the cams have not been disturbed you only need to set the belt cam sprocket to the mark and crank to tdc.....all this means pulling the core support into the service position so the belt tensioner can be locked down and/or doing a complete belt job along with a coolant pump if over 70,000 miles..

I want ti install timing chain in 350 chevy. What TDC marks are used if i use Zoom timing chain whith 3 key way and i use 4 degrees adv. I want TDC with the 4 degrees at crank. I know i put both dots at...

The timing chain is not that fine, nor do you care about advance with the chain. A single link on the chain is more like 15 degrees, and you will have no trouble deciding which is the best fit.
TDC is always 0, and never 4 degrees advanced.
It is the ignition that is advanced, not the chain. To advance the breathing you would need to either change the cam, or get a variable chain sprocket. But again, you can not tell 4 degrees when putting a chain on. It changes that much at least when you take the slack out.

Remove the cam cover, remove the spark plugs, turn the engine to number 1 TDC, put a pencil in spark plug hole number one and twist the crank back and forth and make doubly sure you are at TDC. Now loosen the four bolts at the front of each cam sprocket, check TDC again with the pencil and rocking the crank, now take the pencil and lay it across the flats at the back of each cam. Twist the cams very carefully so that the pencil sits flat on each cam square. Snug up the sprocket bolts and use the pencil to check TDC again! Now check the cams again. Repeat the procedure until you have the cams flat and the engine at TDC.

How to align timing sprocks on a 1997 z24 chevrole cavalier

You will need 2 5/16 drill bits. There is a 5/16 hole in each cam gear. With the crankshaft 1/8 turn off TDC, turn the cam gears so the hole is down. Insert the drill bit into the hole and move the gear slow until the bits slides into a hole in the rear timing cover. Do this to both cam pulleys. When you have both bits installed, this will lock the cams. Don't turn the cams with the crank at TDC, It will bend valves. Once you have the cams locked, turn the crank 1/8 of a turn back to TDC. Don't go the other way. The TDC mark on the crank should be a dot on the gear and a arrow on the rear timing cover. Then after everything is lined up, Install the chain, guides and tensioner. After everything is installed, Turn the crank two revolutions, and line the crank back up to TDC. If the timing is right, you should be able to insert the drill bits in each cam gear. Hope this helps.
