Question about 2002 Ford Ranger Regular Cab

1 Answer

Tranny/motor connectivity posted by jeremy_lakos on Apr 19, 2009 I have just taken out the motor, blew up, and am attempting to put it all back together. I am able to get the tranny close to the motor but will not go together politely. I had at one point said that heck with it and put it all back together. this has casused the motor not want to turn over and wont even turn over by hand. just out of curiosity, i put washers between the tranny and motor, i can now turn the motor over by hand. Why cant the tranny go together the way it should? this is stopping the whole process of gettingt his back on the road... Comment posted on Apr 27, 2009 this is not the 3 stage step issue. i have made sure that has been done, still nothing. Comment posted on Apr 27, 2009 i have confirmed the torque converter is all the way in. i have made sure the shim is in place. That is what brings me to fixya. Comment posted on May 03, 2009 the width that i have is less than 1/4 of an inch, i do know that i am putting it together correctly.

There is a nipple on the converter that must meet up with a indent in the middle of the flywheel you need to have some help and one of you spin the torque converter and gently rock the moter in to place it will worki have done this several times on the rangers

I blew the engine a 2002 Dodge 3500 360. Will a 2001 engine from a 1500 truck-also a 360 5.9 liter be used as a replacement? What about the transmission? Will that engine be ok with my tranny?

OK, this is my suggestion. Since the 2002 have the engine blown up, and it have to be taken out, take out also the tranny, and remove the cover from the transmission, and try to fit it in the 2001 engine. If it fit, there is your answer, yes. Now, also make sure that the motor mounts also fit, that are align with the 2001 engine.
But I think it should fit.

LOST ALL TRANNY FLUID

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like you either lost your torque converter or the forward seal on the tranny most likely do to an inner pump problem. All this adds up to a transmission rebuild unfortunately.

Someone plz help; I have a dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9 blew the old tranny went and put a rebuilt in it. Now it seems like the fluid is restricted its taken longer to shift and no ovrdrive. I removed the inline...

what year is this? since the mid eighties computers have taken over many shift functions- mid nineties you can get many computer codes to use as a diagnostic tool--have you changed the filter? the overdrive is often controlled by a solenoid in the tranny which can have a blown fuse the fuse for this is not always the one you would expect either!--simple thing check to make sure all wires are connected, debris from a blown tranny could have been in the cooler lines i'm just throwing out idea's a chat with a good trans shop would be a good idea also

99 dodge ram 4x4 w 360 engine trans has only 1st gear and reverse

Are you saying you put in a new but used tranny and it still dosent go out of first gear? Or are you saying you replaced a tranny line? If its the tranny you replace and first is the only gear you may not have adjusted the shifting linkage correctly. Put the truck in park and loosen the linkage on the tranny and slidr the rod on the tranny back and retigten and try that

3.0L tranny wont properly mount to motor

Did you make sure the torq converter was all the way into the trans. pump? sounds to me it was not, and i hope for your sake you did not break the ears on the pump. Unbolt the trans. unbolt the torqconverter from the flexplate and spin the converter untill it drops back in the pump keep spinning until it drops in a good inch and then you got it.
