Not the Key but the ignition itself. Replace teh ignition module where the key is inserted to start the vehicle and that should resolve the issue.

This sounds like your starter is bad molst likely its the starter selenoid which is usely found on the starter in some older models it was located on the fire wall depending on its loacation will determine its cost. hope this helps.

Your vehicle may be part of a recall from Hinda/Acura. This recall involves most models, years 1998-2002. Defective part is Ignition Switch. Typical symptoms include: Random Long/Hard starts, stalls while driving (when this happens speedo drops to "0" while car is in motion), No spark, some warning lights are not lit (when key is set to "ON")..typically happens more often in hotter or humid weather. Call your local dealer with your VIN# on hand, and refer to a 2002 Honda/Acura recall regarding Ignition Switch Failure.

Hi ,
Sounds like you burned a "fuse able link". If you open your hood and look going away from the battery at all the wires you probably will see which wire melted. These links are designed to prevent major wiring harness fires. So you have a major dead short in your wiring. It would be difficult to lead you through the tracing down of the short but with a careful eye you may be able to see the bad wire as it will show signs of arcing. Good Luck!!!!!

Sounds like there's a grounded wire somewhere between the ignition switch and the solenoid. When you bypass the switch with the screwdriver you don't ground out the line, but with the switch the ground shorts the circuit, blows the fuse, and then won't start the engine.

Sometimes dead ignition

Connections are the most common either on the battery or the starter solonoid. Next would be a starter, but you would usually get a click down on the flywheel where the starter engaged but could not turn over. Finally an ignition switch, unlikely but contacts there do sometimes go bad there as well.
