Hey srinivasbham,

This is how i would start, the most common problem with loosing your power steering is low fluid. The first thing i would do is check your power steering level. If it is significantly low, this is most likely your problem, just top it off and your on your way. Two other common problems are the power steering pump failing and a loose serpentine belt.

If the pump is failing then it starts to make a groaning noise, but before you think the pump is bad make sure the fluid is full. Also if your serpentine belt is the problem you will get a high pitch squeal while turning.
Start their, and let me know i you need more info.

Try turning the wheel when standing still with the engine running.
If it is tight check the obviouse, has the power steering belt come off. If not check if there is fluid in the steering pump resavour. If the belt is on and you have fluid you may have a bad pump.
I hope this helps
Regards
Sam

Make sure you disconnect the battery first, you don't want to take a chance on setting off the airbag. After you remove the airbag, you will have to remove the steering wheel nut, and steering wheel spokes. You will require a puller to pull the steering wheel off the shaft.

Replace fuel filter on 2000 mazda protege

A 2001 Mazda Protege (actually, all models from 1999-2003 including the DX, LX, ES, Mazdaspeed, and Protege 5) does not have an inline fuel filter. The only fuel filter it has is a "strainer" or a "screen", which looks like a nylon mesh "sock". This strainer is connected to the fuel pump, located in the gas tank. Although this fuel strainer does not require periodic replacement, it is recommended that it be changed if you are replacing the fuel pump.

Ignition lock is stuck (locked) on 92 mazda protege

Please dont think Im talking down to you when I ask this, but did you try turning the steering wheel? If the steering wheel is got tension on it ie against a curb, etc then the key wont turn in the cylinder. If that isnt the case then if you have the inclination you can try taking the steering column apart and replacing the ignition switch, or get it towed to your mechanic...

Replacing 2 belts on a 2000 Mazda Protege

I recommend that you go to any Auto Parts store and by a repair user manual for your 2000 Mazda Protege.  They have pictures and arrows and stuff that you will need to do the whole job.  The non-Mazda version will cost approximately $15.00.
Because of the tensioner that may come off when while you are doing these belt changes, it is too complicated to talk you through this.
But with the manual, I am confident you can change them.
