Volvo 1993 850 - passenger front window doesn't work and wiper rt

The passenger front window button doesn't roll it down. The back passenger used to be intermittent but now it works. Also the Right side windshield wiper doesn't move.

I'm not sure what you mean by the driver side master switch. I only see one set of switches - they are located between the two front seats near the gear shift.

All the other 3 windows work - and the front passenger worked when I got it - but it sometimes wouldn't go up, but if I tried the button a few times it would eventually go up. Then about a week later the window just wouldn't budge.

Thanks! I will try that. Maybe the contact cleaner will work. The windshield wiper works now.
    Great advice!

If the P/S window works from the driver's master switch - your problem lies in the P/S switch itself.

As far as the wiper not working - they are interlinked, and work in tandem... so the only thing it could be is the mounting nut. Lift up the plastic cover/cap and tighten the 1/2" nut. It is probably worked loose.
If the nut holding the wiper arm is loose, it will let the stud just swivel in place and the arm wont move.
If the nut is tight then the arm under the cowl attached to the wiper levers has come loose.
FOR FUTURE REFERENCE - TIGHTNESS OF THE NUT , PLACE SPRING WASHER first, BEFORE NUT PLACEMENT... and tighten. CHECK OFTEN FOR TIGHTNESS, OTHERWISE THE THREAD BETWEEN STUD AND WIPER ARM WILL WEAR OUT ... and new wiper arm (~ $60.) has to be purchased.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Oh - thats right - it wasnt til '95 they went back to the door switches.

If you are good with electrical testing - remove the switch, and check for 12VDC at the switch.

Your vehicle supplies a 12VDC power, and then is distributed to the switches at the switch panel.

If all the other windows are working - the P/S switch has failed - and the entire master must be swapped out - there are no replaceable parts.

You could disassemble, and clean with electrical contact cleaner - i suspect a bad contact due to something being spilled on the switch.

If you need more help - just let me know.

    Thanks!

Hi Kimberli,

I suspect that since all windows can be powered up and down, you have issues with I believe 2 specific switches you mentioned that have problems - as a result of possible rain water, melting snow / ice or spillage of beverages. You might be able to clean them up - or replace the ones that are "flaky"

Good luck!

Just replaced passenger front window on the 2001 v70. Do not remember if window stops an inch down or does it go all the way down?

I am not exactly sure on this model but most of the time the power windows on the front doors go down all the way. I would check the right passenger side door if it goes all the way down, then most likely the drivers side door should also. Usually the rear windows go down and stop an inch from being all the way down. Some cars are set up to lower the front windows only an inch then by pressing the window down button again, they will continue to roll all the way down.

2001 Buick Lesabre windows roll up but not down.

This problem is very likely caused by the drivers side power window switch being defective, I have seen this very same problem in the shop more than once and the new master switch fixed it. here is the part number and price from www.Rockauto.com
AIRTEX Part # 1S3874-Left front Power Window Switch. Price $105.79

Passenger side window won't go back up on 2002 volvo S40

try activating it from the passenger side door switch. (working with the idea it is a switch problem).
then try listening real close when you try to roll it up... if you hear the motor running , it is the tape that is the regulator.
