Question about 1991 Ford F250

Loud noise at 3000-4000 RPMS

My 1991 Ford F250 4X4(302) is making a metalic noise at around 3000-4000 RPMS, however, when i press it up to 4100+ the noise goes away. Its a manual(4 speed). I cant pinpoint the noise but it sounds like it comes from underneath the cab(regular cab). It does this in every gear.

Noise sounds like a metallic chirp from valve train.

To narrow it down, while the engine is running, don't get near moving parts, you can use a long piece of steel, metal, put 1 end on the valve cover, the other to your ear and listen for rattling. You can move it around to narrow down the source of the noise. It's like a stethoscope but works well. I use a 3' long screwdriver.

you may have a vacuum leak or a restriction in the exhaust system check around under the hood to see if you can narrow down the noise. a restriction in the exhaust causes the excess exhaust to push back threw and make a whooshing noise. hope this helps

The hub bearing is usually pressed in and can be pressed too much and damaged.
Also, you may want to check to see if your brakes are worn out on the front which could also be making this noise.

Replace front drive belts. There comes a time when they get so worn and polished that they just don't grip anymore.
