Question about 2000 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

Wrong dipstick After an oil change where the technician put in the book amount of oil, it wasn't enough for the dipstick. He thought we may have the wrong dipstick. So how long should it be?

I looked at my last oil change info & 4.2 qt. were put in. And, not having the manual, I am assuming 4.2 qt. is what the manual says. I’m mostly trying to find out what the length of the dipstick is suppose to be on a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo so I can tell if it’s the wrong length.

Does anyone know what length the dipstick of the 2000 Isuzu Rodeo V6 should be. It sounds more like this is the definite problem. I just wanted to make sure before I order a new one.

A replacement dipstick can be purchased at your local dealer. I suggest you get the right one and not try to fabricate a make shift one for something as critical as you engine oil level.

The oil dipstick for the 3.2 litre is 26 7/8" long. This is from the edge of the rubber seal on the top to the tip. The oil capacity is 6.3 Quarts for the "factory fill"...according to shop manual.

***NOTE: from MY past experince with the 3.2 engine, it always took 6 quarts to bring oil level to "Full" mark with filter change.

The correct dipstick for the engine in your vehicle will have a specfic part number.|
    Hope this answers your question,

Why is oil level not showing on the dipstick?

Hi Kevin:
Possible switched dipstick but really unlikely.
My suggestion?
- Check manual or dealer for required amount of oil.
- Drain oil.
- Fill with specified amount of oil.
- Check dipstick level.
Under NO circumstances would I continue to run the engine until I knew I had the right amount of oil in it.
It might also be an idea to check with the seller, but still do the checks yourself.
Best of luck.

96 geo xfi starts then sputters and stalls

my be the wrong dip stick, wont be the first
join the geo forum and ask.
do your own oil change, put in the exact amount in the FSM or op guide. then dipstick it, at the full mark.? then dip is right.
if not, then wrong.

I need to know how much oil to put into mi toyota starlet 1984 3k cause i dont have a dip stick

Most vehicles when changing oil uses 5 quarts of oil. I believe that is any vehicle even trucks after you have drained the old oil out of it and is changing your oil. It should last a good 5 months but it is best to change your oil about every 3 months. that is what we do around here and we have 4 vehicles

There are no markings on the dipstick to know where the acceptable level for the oil is on the 1996 Millinea. How do I know if I have enough oil?

Drain the crankcase oil into a clean container in which you are able to measure the amount. Replenish this amount up to the quantity stated in your hand book. Remove dipstick and fill the crancase with just this oil. Dip the oil level and using a scriber or a file, mark the dipstick at the level of the oil.
1. The quanity of oil is the engine capaity less the oil filter.
2. You may wish to use clean new oil and fit a new filter. If so, use the fill capacity including the oil filter, or add about another pint.

97 volvo 850 with a milky dipstick, looks like a head gasket is in my future, any special knowledge needed, I've done many but not on this car yet, it'll be my firs, I've learned about the head bolt...

your best bet is to buy a Haynes book on your car from Autozone for $20.00
It will tell you if you have stretch bolts or not in your engine.

I just had oil & filter change at GM dealer yesterday. I appears as though they over-filled according to the dipstick by about a 1/4 an inch. Serious enough that I should drain off some?

A 1/4 of an inch can be 1/2 to a full quart of oil in many engines either way overfull is almost as important as under full, I would remove the amount it takes to put level at the dipstick indicator at the recommended reading!

Manual amt recommended is 6 qts without filter 6.4 with new filte

book could be wrong, dipstick may be wrong one, oil pan could have been changed (or engine). When in doubt, I'd compromise 'till I got an answer...remove some oil till the stick reads correctly, Even if it's low, one quart will not do damage...overfull will. did you change the filter and run it before you checked level? Try comparing your stick with one on a dealer lot and see if they are the same...while there ask what their book says.

What is the length of 2005 Chevy Colorado Z71 oil dipstick

If the manuel says 6 qt thats what it takes. Sometimes 5 min is not enough time for all the oil to run down from the top of the engine check the oil after 1 hour if you removed the same amount that you put in I think you are safe
