I guess you could pull fuses with the key off, and see if they spark when you put them back in. Some of them will spark even when the key is off, but it might narrow it down for you. There are no lights staying on, right? Tailights, interior... etc.

Are you sure it isn't the battery itself? Take the cable off tonight, and see if it is dead or alive in the morning. Quite often, batteries that are poor, will hold a charge for a few hours, but not for 12 or more.

Get the altenator checked along with your battery. make sure the lights and every thing is off when you exit the vehicle. if it aint that then you got a wire somewhere that is doing something to keep something on.

New battery keeps going dead when car shut off overnight

Sounds like a slow drain - like a dome light or short in the wiring.
If the battery stays charged when it is disconnected, you'll have to check for a power drain in the car.

Battery keeps going dead overnight. I've already changed the alternator which tested to be bad and still having the same problem

if you installed a new battery as well as a new alternator, it should not go dead overnight. if you have a short in the vehicle that will drain a new battery that rapidly, the cable would have been melted already. although, dome lights do have a tendency to drain batteries, but not overnight. use a multimeter to check the battery voltage while the motor is running. it should read above 13 volts DC signifying that the alternator is indeed charging the battery.

The battery goes dead only when I use the ac. 2004 Jetta.

Possible that the AC wiring and the relay /. switch wiring and unit must be checked. It is possible that the car is also idling lower than the RPM needed when the AC is switched on and so this must be calibrated.
Please check also for draining of the battery on idling and when stopped overnight.

Battery Drain on 2004 Chevy Impala

What could be draing the battery? A lot of different sources on your vehicle can cause a parasitic drain on the battery . Your vehicle has at least 10 different electronic control modules (computers ) on board . Any one of these not powering down could cause your problem . Plus there are other things too . Testing would need to be done to find the problem .Takes knowledge of electrical circuits an systems to diagnose these type problems .

Battery dead overnight 1992 riviara

A battery that runs down overnight usually means a bad battery cell...you can sometimes see a swelling of the battery case as the cells are aging...if battery is new...a rare starter short can cause the battery to drain overnight...When running, have the battery tested before you are stranded...Hope this helps.

2004 trailblazer battery dies after sitting problem getting worse. drove the truck last nite it was fine this morning it was dead. alt. was checked it was fine. everyone says this is a common problem how...

the battery could be faulty or there is something draining the battery,it could be a light staying on, check that all the lights are off, trunk, glove box,if all are off try disconnecting a battery lead overnight & see if the battery still loses the charge, it could also be a short circuit somewhere, maybe a bare wire touching something, the last option have the battery tested.....hope this helps.......cheers.

I checked alternator and it works fine. Fixed tail light socket.

is the battery sulfated?, no matter how old, has it been run dead,is it the right size to run all the vehicle needs.,run a load test on it,also check for "parasitic drain" on the battery system,i.e. and light, radios left on,overnight or unknown drain, etc.
