Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem

My jeep grand cherokee tends to idle high in park. It should be at 500rpm but it is at 1000rpm. Also, while driving between 60 to 70mph, the rpm's are usually at 2000, but it will rise to 2300rpm, then back to 2000rpm frequently. I'm not revving up the engine nor am I pressing/relieving the gas peddle.

Rough idle random cylinder misfire

misfires are more from problem injectors, low fuel pressure or injector wiring than from plugs
have a fuel pressure test done to check for problem pressure regulator , problem fuel pump , blocked m/dirty filter
one other area of concern is the EVAP system where the purge valve doesn't vent the tank properly and causes low fuel flow rates

I have a 2004 Jeep grand cherokee straight six. I replaced the TPS sensor & IAC sensor. recently experienced high idle while in park, lack of power, and engine light came on with a code of P0121? ...

Depending on the system, P0121 is Throttle/pedal position sensor/switch A circuit range/ performance problem.

Did the TPS have slotted mounting holes? If so it may need to be adjusted.

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.

I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
