White smoke coming out tailpipe

Changed 94 3.1 motor with 96 3.1 motor that had been setting for a while (not sure how long, intake gasket was said to be only problem)got everything together, motor started right up, had high idle. neighbor hooked up to computer to check specs. temp showing 230- 256, fan would kick on and drop it 30+ degree. changed air flow sensor on throttle body, idle went to normal, white smoke started coming out exhaust, oil level is increasing. intake or head gasket the culprit? if intake blows, water will get into piston? know intake usually blows before head. engine runs smooth just smokes bad. checked plugs, no discolor. #2 slightly damp

If your intake gaskets are leaking, when you dump soapy water on the gasket, it should bubble like crazy ( when it's running). If you can, run it with the rad cap off and watch for bubbles. If it keeps bubbling, you probably have a head gasket problem.

Just take the rad cap off and start it up. If there is no bubbling in the rad, it's likely the intake gaskets. If there are bubbles, it will be the head gasket or craked head/block.

I had my intake manifold gasket change along with the valve cover gasket. White smoke is still coming out of tailpipe?

White smoke may indicate an internal coolant leak or low coolant reservoir levels. Coolant leaks can also leak into the oil of your car causing it to be frothy or milky looking smoke. You might have a cracked head gasket, engine block, or cylinder head which are all caused by overheating.

Acadia white smoke, high temp and fan won't come on

Do you have an extended warranty ?
Usually white smoke from the exhaust means the engine is burning coolant thru a blown head gasket or intake gasket.
You should also be low on coolant in the radiator.

White smoke out tailpipe car has 17300.00 miles

White smoke is coolant being burnt in the cylinder,
most likely from a failed head gasket

I would think a 1989 is too old to fix
Cost more than the car is worth

Any oil useage between oil changes every
say 3000 to 4500 miles is too much, engine is
worn

White smoke coming from exhaust car running fine no overheating where is white smoke coming from and or there a quick fix

White smokee is normally a sign of coolant getting into a combustion chamber, due to a head gasket, leaking intake, or a crack in either. Check your coolant level! Running it with this problem will destroy your engine. I would get it pressure tested.

White smoke from tailpipe, running poorly.

Blown head gasket for sure if its a petrol engine.

If its diesel then its overfuelling.

Gas pouring from tailpipe

Make sure you use OEM Injectors. The white smoke might come at a 3.5 from a bad gasket bewteen the intake manifold and the throttle boy or if you have the 3.8 from bad gaskets between the intake manifold and the engine.

White smoke from buick tailpipes, wont start

I had the same problem with my '87 Buick LeSabre 2 years ago. But it didn't seem to fit right, the car was running fine up until it just didn't. I had 3 professional mechanics swear it was a blown head gasket. I researched thoroughly and found out this particular engine make has a DEFECTIVE upper intake manifold which can break down and cause coolant to leak into oil, simulating a blown head gasket. The NHTSA had issued a recal on SEVERAL GM cars with this engine, EXCEPT for the '97. I filed a complaint with the ODI and as of today it is now COVERED as a "Defect & Recall". NHTSA ID number 96V116000. This MAY be your problem if it is NOT the "usual" blown head gasket. Hope this helps.

Your Jeep is Burning Oil. Do you need a Quart every Now and Then? The only way to fix this is to get the Piston Rings Replaced and is not Cheap. There are a Few Additives on the Market that you can put in the Motor to Minimise the Problem for a While. You need to go to Your Auto Parts Store and see what is available in your Area on these though. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
