Question about 1999 Volkswagen Beetle

The car is overheating

I found an empty resevoir labeled EVAP. I tasted what little liquid that was in it and it didn't taste like water. What do I put there?

My car is leaking water fast, what seem to be the problem?

if possible have a pressure test done to pinpoint leak if not well it can be multi problems you need to narrow down location of leak then check hoses and clamps -if water pump look for leak in area of weep hole and around bottom --same with radiator -heater core--reservoir

My nissan quest 95 is leaking water. It seems is coming from around the filter. Need help please

Dear Helen,
Which filter? You have the air filter, the oil filter, and the cabin filter.
If it is coming out near the air filter or the oil filter, I should suspect a leaking heater or radiator hose.
A pressure tester for the radiator will help you find those leaks.
If it is near the cabin filter, it should be the drain tube for the air conditioner condenser, which is normal to leak when the air conditioning is running.
Try to catch some of the water that is leaking and see which fluid it is.
Air conditioner condensation water is clear, it even looks drinkable.
Anti-freeze/coolant liquid is colored blue, green, red, or yellow, (it depends on the brand) and has a distinct sweet smell and taste. No, I am not recommending you should taste it.
God bless your efforts.

Leaking water but not overheating

Leaking water; when? where? How much? It is normal for air conditioning to release some water caused by humid air condensing on the evaporator in the dash. This will show up as a puddle under the car roughly in the middle of the auto body footprint. It will be clear.
If your water is coming from the radiator, it will be greenish or yellowish from anti-freeze. It will usually puddle under the front of the car. Your pet will love the taste (I am told it is sweet), and it can kill them. You cannot keep loosing coolant for long before your car will overheat in a cloud of steam. There is a makeup resevoir somewhere that will try its best to keep your cooling system full for awhile, but it only holds a quart or two.
So, if the water is clear, taste it. If it tastes like water and you have been running the AC, you have no problems. If it is colored, try to find where it is coming from. On a '96 vehicle, the radiator core could be leaking, or a hose could easily be bad. A good stopleak may help a radiator for awhile. Don't ignore a hose, they are cheap and easy to replace, and tend to fail dramatically. Radiators are not that hard to replace either, if a bit tedious. Try to find a good one in a junkyard first. Junkyards are high tech these days and many are on the internet. Replace the hoses anyway if you are going to the trouble of doing the radiator, it will save you grief later.

I have a 2005 dodge caravan. Its leaking water. I want to know what the problem is.

There is a couple of things it could be.

If you are using your Air Conditioning then the water is a natural thing and will always drip. They must do that when running correctly. So this is a good thing.

Another leak you may have that looks like water may be antifreeze. This could leak from a number of different places and needs to be found and repaired. If it is antifreeze you can tell by tasting it. Just dip you finger in the spot on the ground that is wet. Lightly taste it on your tongue. If it taste sweet then it is antifreeze. Be sure to clean up the leaks on the ground as Cats and Dogs love to lick it up because it is sweet. But it is poision to them and will kill them in a horrible way.

As I said if it is antifreeze you need to try and find out where it is coming from and fix it right away.

Good Luck.

if you put a little of the fluid that has leaked on your finger tip and taste it,if it tastes sweet then its engine coolant(anti-freeze),if its bitter tasting then its brake fluid,if its dark in color(brown/black)it could be motor oil,if its red in color it could be transmission fluid.once you know what type of leak it is then you can check for were its coming from.

There is a puddle in the floor of my 97 saturn, drivers side right in front of my trunk button. Someone said it might be a bad heater core?

There are two things is can be. If the liquid is clear, it is condensation from the A/C evaporator coil and the drain is stopped up. The coil has a drain that drains out under the car, that drain can get stopped up with road debris. Now if the liquid is colored and smells like anti freeze, you have a heater core leaking and it will have to be replaced.

Water on the front floor of a toyota sienna minivan 2006, I suspect iti is the AC drain but I can not find it in the car.

If it is the clogged drain line it is located under the van. Look around and you will find it. It may also be a leaking heater core, especially if you have been loosing coolant with no apparent leak. Taste of the liquid and if it tastes sweet it is coolant and not just water.
