I tried that, I still can't get the hub to move even in the slightest. However, the bolts are removed and so is the bearing bolt in the center. I'm stuck!!

  • mherbold May 14, 2009

Okay, And if that doesn't work? I got the first set of bearing balls off but the main bolt assembly is still attached. What can i do to get that off without hurting the whole hub?

Did you take out all the bolts holding the bearing assembly to the spindle,if so soak the area where the bearing passes thru the spindle with SEAFOAM, CRC,or some type of penetrating solvent.these are very often hard to remove. if you need more help get back to me and we'll go from there

i know this is going to sound strange, take the largest hammer you can find and try beating it off, while go from side to side and top to bottom, work slowly and watch for the bearing to start to move, then you can try your puller or just keep at it until it comes off, sorry no easy fix, these things get really rusted and stuck

the bearings and hub come a a sealed unit,it sounds like the bearings are seized on the drive shaft, keep at it as the hub will be replaced with the bearings, get back to me

What type of puller. do I need for a 96 Ford contour front wheel drive front wheel bearing .

I am reasonably sure there is no front wheel bearing on a front wheel drive car, the hub is usually splined and slides onto the drive shaft. I may be wrong but I dont think so.

1991 wheel bearing replace

If you are talking about the front, it is generally replaced as a assembly, wheel bearing/hub assembly, that runs about 40-60 bucks. You will likely need a puller to remove it easily, relatively simple job with a good puller.

Instructions on replace wheel bearing on 2005 f150 2wd front wheel

Johny brown is wrong.... the 2005 ford f150 2wd requires a rotor/bearing assembly it is really really easy to change...... jack it up remove wheel, 18 mm wrench to remove caliper mount... then remove spindle cotterpin and nylon nut (26mm? ) with any luck the rotor/bearing /hub will pull right off ...if not a make shift lever/puller should do the trick.... I actually had a bearing frozen on the spindle that i used heat and a small 3 jaw puller to get the bearing free.... if everything goes smoothly you should be done in less then 30 min

Can't get plate off in front off rotor on my 99 dodge 2500 4x4 v10. took off large hub nut and it still wont budge.

Do you want to remove the rotor or the hub and all? To remove the rotor, the caliper has to be out of the way and the bracket that holds it on. The nut in the middle holds the axel into the front wheel bearing and it's a press fit. The axel can be removed and the steering Knuckle can be removed and the knuckle be put on a press to push the hub out of the bearing. This destroyes the bearing and you need to plan on new bearings. They do make a puller that can be rented at the parts store that can pull the hub. once the hub is pulled out of the bearing the rotor can be unbolted from the back side of the hub. It's best to do this work on a press as the bearing needs to be installed with out damage and it's harder to get it right with a sleigh hammer.

I have a 454 Chevrolet, the pilot bearing won't budge with my slide puller, any help would be great.

Have you tried BP blast liquid
Let it soak....

If you have, your next step I would buy a Pilot bearing puller not a slide puller which has only one hook,
The Pilot bearing puller has two hook.
I had a poblem like this before, I had to buy that tool, & it nock it out the park....

How to replace front rotors

You'll need to take the wheel bearings off. the rotors are bolted to the hub and the bolts are located in the back of the hub thus having to remove the wheel bearings and removed the hub/rotor assy.
