My Elantra starts fine, drives for about 15 minutes, then dies. I wait about 45 minutes, then will start again and repeate the cycle of shuting off. I replaced coil but still the same.

Thanks so much for the solution, Murphy. However, that could cause not to have spark in the coil? I checked the coil when the simptoms happens and not spark when turning over the engine. To that point I though the problem was electrical.

problem is caused by ignition timing. your ignition timing is overly advanced.

have a mechanic check your ignition timing. adjustments in timing are done in distributor, camshaft pulley, and crackshaft pulley.

Car shuts off while driving

if car shuts off while driving it could be a bad crank sensor. a bad crank sensor will shut car off while driving, then it will not start for about 10 minutes, when it starts it runs fine until it goofs up again. the popping could be the sensor for it controls timing along with the cam sensor.
