Try and get your hands on a code scanner, some small time mechanics have them, plug into the obd2 connection under the steering beside door,beside/just above pull cable for bonnet,i use one myself to get the codes ,read the code before you delete it ,it should read for example "p0131 or whatever"then google it,it could help you find the area where the problem is,hope this helps

My 1996 Buick LeSabre won't start. It's getting gas- has good spark. When it turns over it is real slow then acts like battery is dead. Have new battery and starter. I am at a loss.

Check voltage at battery while starting. If good, check with headlights on. If headlights dim, suspect bad battery cables or excessive friction in engine. If not, check voltage at starter.

Turns over too slow to start has new battery I tried to jump it and cleaned terminals

which of 3 engines is it????????
i tried to jump it
jumper cables to a running car?
slow turn over is usually , 3 things.
1: bad battery or its only discharged.
2: spark timing way off, causes engine to try to start backwards.
3: engine seizures. (internal issues) (turn it by hand, ok its good)
4: weak starter. (its bad)

1997 GMC Yukon runs great but starts hard

That's often a sign of a failing check valve in the fuel pump. Try this. When you turn the key to RUN, the fuel pump activates for 2-seconds to boost any lost pressure. Try turning the key to RUN, then OFF and repeat three times. If the engine starts right up, you probably need a new fuel pump. The real test is called a leakdown test where the shop throws a pressure gauge on it and leaves it overnight. If it loses more than 5-10-psi, the check valve is shot. Can't be replaced separately .

How do i reset the system to clear the message service theft deterrentt syste? It hapoened after i put a new battery in

You can't. It takes a Tech II or Tech III scanner at your Local GM dealer to do it. People do it(new battery) everyday unaware that doing so can and usually does, arm's the theft system and either kills the radio or the whole car. To me its just another built-in defect that requires dealer assistance. It's a buzzkill I know, and it probably wont be long until car owners won't even have access to the engine compartment.

Manual 1994 jetta 2.0 4 cylndr . Car will not start...it will not turn...battery is still great...could it be an electrical problem? Where is a good place to start checking?

start with the fuses and the relays. some say ign or eng which is ignition or engine. if that is good, check the fusible link. if that is good, test to see if the started gets full voltage

unhook possitive post on battery....wait and then reconnect...this usually works...make sure fuel cap is always tight and never leave car running while refueling. this causes 85% of engine lights coming on

you said the motor turns over real slow have you checked the battery charge, if so did the motor turn freely before you installed it. it could have seized up if it sat a while before you installed it try spraying some starting fluid in the throttle body and starting it

Slow start - need to sit for a while - then starts fine.

2 things have the battery load tested twice with a real carbon pile load tester under a 15 second load if battery still shows good what i find is oil has gotten into starter because oil filter sits over starter and people let it drip on the starter
