Question about 1994 Nissan Quest
I have a 94 nissan quest. its leaking anti freeze on the back side of the motor close to the exhaust manifold. i know the valve cover gaskets needs replaced but i cant see where the leak is coming from, so i was wondering if it would be the head gasket or the freeze plugs. there is no anti freeze in the oil, so i dont think its the heads. but there is some water comming from the exhaust pipe, which i am assuming is because of the exhaust manifold gasket being ruined by the oil and letting the anti freeze leak through. what do you think the problem is? i really dont want to change the head gaskets and find out thats not the problem.
I have seen a couple of these now with headgasket leaks to the outside of the block just as you describe. I solved them both with a stop-leak additive, not something I would normally use, but I really didn't want to pull the heads because the exhaust studs always break on these engines. I would find out for sure where the leak is before proceeding though. If it's a hose or frost plug, you'll have to repair it properly.
