Question about 1995 Chevrolet Blazer

3 Answers

In a 4.3 vortec 1995 s-10 blazer, could the crank sensor be the cause of injectors not opening? i have replaced the fuel pump (65 psi), filter, spider assembly, and ignition control module. i am getting fuel to the spider, but not out out of the injectors. i have no idea what would cause this. but it will run on starting fluid.

so yes i have power at the spider, and yes the negative is pulsing. and no it wasn't the crank sensor, napa told me that the fuel pump i bought was 65 psi, it was that or the 20 psi pump, when i called autozone, they said their computer says it should be 80 to 90 psi, so i got the 80 to 90 psi pump and about to try that, i have no idea what i could be missing!! sorry, didnt mean to give you a bad rating, but yes i already checked that.

What the F is up with all the different pumps? There is only one pump that is specified for this vehicle and it must have enough pressure to open the poppet valves on the injector tips. When you finally get the tank out to put the right pump in, make sure you delete the dampener and replace it with a piece of straight hose. There was a bulletin on the dampeners, they have O-rings that leak enough pressure to prevent the poppet valves from opening. The dampener is this funny looking little thing that mounts/connects between the pump and the outlet tube. Tell the morons at the first parts store they owe you for the labor on the wrong pump.

Yes it could cause this problem. It could also be caused by a bad connection or wiring to the injector.

What did it do in the first place to make you change all this stuff? Did it die, or just wouldn't start. or died and started, or what?

Check for injector pulse at the plug going into the intake. Front of intake, drivers side.

Does the bad rating mean you already checked that?????

It needs at least 55 psi, have you checked it with a fuel pressure gauge or just going by that you have a new pump?

The rubber line from the pump to the sending unit or pulsator was bad? Thats real common, the pump comes with a new hose. Glad you got it going.

The injectors are fired thru the engine cotrol module but it gets its signal to fire from the pick-up located inside the distributor if you are loosing injector pulse only the ignition module is bad if you are also loosing spark when you loose injector pulse your pick up is causing the problem if you replace the pick-up i recomend you change the ignition module when doing so because they work together and you have to remove the distributor to change the pick-up

What cause fuel system to loose pressure new fuel pump installed also new filter & relay pump cranks 65 psi a run until pressure drops and quits, it might start, fuel pressure regulator ?

if it cranks at 65 psi the problem will not be in the regulator as the pump is producing enough fuel to exceed what the injectors need
What is happening is that the pump is not capable of delivering enough fuel to maintain that pressure when running so look for venting problems , hoses collapsing internally or blockage in the tank pick up

I had this problem with my Durango.. everything you checked was good on mine but it would just turn over and not start. I towed it to a mechanic and it ended up being the cam shaft and crank sensors. Hope this helps

Fuel pump pressure at the manifold is 60 psi blazer sits over night will start but takes quite a bit to get it going after it starts it runs ok a little bit of a hesitation replaced regulator has new fuel...

u have good fuel PSI, have u had the emissions checked? cooling system/ sensors poss vacuum leak. Start with an emissions test (is it running lean or rich?} & scan the PC for readings of the sensors. That should be the route u take toward diagnose & repair.

2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS 2-dr, 4 wheel drive, 2 cranks to start

Try replacing the fuel filter first, but it sounds like your loosing your fuel pressure prim when the fuel pump is not working. The fuel pressure should be 62-65 PSI with the engine not running the the ignition key turned on and should drop about 5 psi when the engine is running. If you turn the engine off and check the fuel pressure, it stat steady for morn then 15min. If it drops fast, then you have a leak at your fuel pressure regulator (common) or your return fuel check valve which is located at your fuel sending unit.
Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, it could just be to dirty to pressurize the fuel system fast enough giving you the hard start.

My 95 blazer 4.3 will not start, it cranks, has

Try replacing the fuel filter, but it sounds like you have a weak fuel pump. Your cold start pressure should be 62-65 psi and drop about 5 psi when the engine is running. Anything less then 62 psi is going to cause you to have starting issues, you can also test your fuel pump by blocking off the return line to see if you get 75-78 PSI. this is just a test to see if your fuel pump is still good. If you have less then that with the return line blocked off, replace your fuel pump but check your ground wire first. The ground wire is separate from the wire harness and grounded to the frame and a bad ground will give you a weak pump.

'94 S 10 Blazer V6 Vortec EFI. Fuel pressure good, new fuel injectors installed, fuel pump works ok. Only starts with starter fluid sprayed into air intake. Any Suggestions?

your statement is fuel pump work ok, have you tested for proper fuel pressure. just because the fuel pump works it could have less pressure needed to start the engine. maybe the fuel filter is plugged. start out by replacing the fuel filter, if this doesn't fix it, you need to pressure test the pump. even 10 psi reduction in pressure will allow the engine not to start.

1997 astro 4.3 vortec v6 fuel pressure problem. The fuel pump works for about 2-3 seconds when i turn on the key and it works when i crank the engine but i do not have anything close to 50 lbs of pressure...

Hello frankdoiron: My name is Roger and I will help you. If the fuel pressure is not 60-66 psi. the engine will not run right or will no start. At 55 psi. the engine will not start. Unless you have a injector that is stuck open I would look at the fuel pump as the problem. I would also change the fuel filter the same time you replaced the fuel pump. The warranty on the pump would be void if you do not replace it at the same time.
Please rate the answer you received. This is how we know your answer helped. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Wont crank unless u spray starter fluid in. Cleaned air flow sensors. runs fine as long as u hold down the gas. No idling.

Check The Fuel Filter And Your Fuel Pump Its The Problem %99 Of The Time.
