It sounds like you may have a bad crank positioning scensor or could possibly be in the ecm try the wires first then i would go from there

I have a 93 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 that cranks and doesn't wanna start. Fuel Pump is working and has good fuel pressure. Problem is coil loses power after the first start. I put in new distributor, new coil,...

Ok...you mentioned that there is no spark coming from the coil when it's in no start...Is there power from the alternator going to the coil?
One other item...If the timing chain is worn and stretched, it is possible that the cam sensor and crank sensor are out of phase with each other, just enough where a temperature difference will change starting ability.
One question...while in no start, have you tried changing the throttle position while cranking to see if it lights at part or 3/4 throttle?

I'm getting no spark from ignition coil. I replaced the coil and still no spark. 1990 jeep wrangler 4 cyl

does the coil have power?? if so, I would highly suspect the crank position sensor. its located back behind the engine drivers side, in the bell housing. its just a guess....... you are there, and I am here. Dont replace anymore parts till you know what is bad, I dont want you spending money on parts you dont need. you will need a wiring diagram, scanner and a service manual to properly diagnose this. a speed sensor or cam sensor could be shorted. take a voltage reading at the crank sensor ORANGE WIRE should be approx 5V if its not 5V disconnect the speed sensor ck again.. if its not 5V disconnect the cam sensor. when all these are disonnected you should have 5v if you do, then take a reading with them all hooked up should still be 5V. the thing I am trying to test is if one of these 3 sensors is shorted. by process of elimination one may be. good luck.

My 1993 jeep wont start it cranks over . There

Most likely crank angle sensor if no spark at all, or a coil problem if very weak spark.

Changed the crank sensor on my '89 Wagoneer and then discovered my air filter was really, really dirty. Would fouled air filter produce same problems as faulty crank sensor?

If extremely dirty, filter could restrict air flow and eventually produce a no start or low power condition. cps generally gives a shutdown for no obvious reason and no spark when starting.(sometimes re starting after cool down)

93 wrangler no spark

I'm certain that there is an "official" test for this sensor. I generally quick check by attaching a volt meter set to millivolts to the sensor leads and check for a pulse voltage when cranking. If in doubt and you don't want to spend big$ on the part, you can get an entire distributor at a scrap yard likely for half of the price of the new sensor.

Jeep wrangelr Crank Position Sensor

wall5552: there were two engines used in 1992 Jeep Wranglers.
A 2.5 liter and a 4.0 liter. HOWEVER>>>> The location for the crank angle sensor is the same for both.
It is located on the bell housing up near the front at about the 10:00 PM position.
The Cam position sensor is located in the Distributor on both engines as well.

You have to find out if it has fuel and spark . One or the other is missing at the demise of the engine.

Go to a library that has a set of the factory service manuals (not Chlton's or Haynes or Motor's). The FSM's will give you all the trouble hotting charts that the dealer techs use.
