Question about 1987 Lincoln Town Car
My Lincoln runs then shuts off after 30 min,I have to spray starter fluid in the air intake back and forth for 10 to 30min to get it back running, had a simular problem with a chevy and I replaced the ignition module to solve that problem, replaced the one on the lincoln and it still cuts off.And most times the engine surges when I'm stopped, when I change the plugs the surge stops for about 2 weeks then it starts surging again.
Did you check for Spark after the Engine Cuts Out if Not it sounds like it could be the Distributor Pickup Coil inside the Distributor

Engine stalling issue at low speeds
is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and
throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner from NAPA or
Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake
while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will
try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30
minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and
disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base
