Should be able to do the job with a star screwdriver, possibly a set of allen keys,a small set of socket spanners, a flat blade screwdriver to pry the perimeter of the door trim away from the door.
Look for little round plastic plugs on the door arm rest as they cover the screws that hold the arm rest on to the door.
there maybe a plastic cover at the front corner of the window directly behind the mirror which may have to be removed as well if it is covering the edge of the trim, once all that is removed there will be plastic covering the large openings in the door behind the trim which gives you the access to the window etc, make sure this is put back and sealed as it is to stop water from entering into the car when it is raining.
Replace in reverse order
Hope this helps, have not actually worked on a volkswagen but most of the cars are the same setup

Passger door wont open from the outside the door handle is loose

The door handle assembly may have just come loose from the door. It is attached from the inside and is accessed by removing the inner door panel. Removing inner door panels is usually not that difficult once you find out how they are attached. The first thing to do is locate any screws that are visible and remove them.(usually phillips head) I usually remove the ones along the bottom of the panel and then look for any hidden screws on the bottom of the armrest. If the door has electric windows then it might be necessary to remove the window switch to gain access to any remaining screws. Next, use a flat blade screw driver to pry the door panel away from the door. You can wrap the screwdriver with tape to avoid damage to the painted surface. The door panel is held on to the door with press fit pins which are reusable. Once the panel is removed, you should be able to repair anything that is needed.

There are about 10 fasteners holding it in place. Check with your library to see if they offer online car repair manuals. If not, invest in a 1-year subscription to and print out the diagrams.

2001 Toyota Camry - Removing driver interior door panel

you can take a screw driver and pry it off. Be careful if you have power windows, if it falls right off then it could pull the wires loose. The panels have clips that clip to the door. Therefore, the only way to get the panel off is to pry it off.

Power window repair- window has dropped into the door- 1987 Chrysler New Yorker. Need manual to show how to remove door panel and repair it

The door panel can be removed by removing several screws. The panel can be pulled from its edges and you will feel where the resistance comes from and that will lead to the screws.

behind the inside door handle by removing the inner cover you well find two screws remove them by the inside grab handle on the door there is a small rubber mat remove the mat on the upper right corner is a trim piece it just pops off once the screws and trim is removed use a small screw driver and go below the door panel and wedge it between the panel & door and pull back on the screw driver until you here a pop the door panel is held on by plastic clips :caution--when removing the panel DO NOT YANK ON THE DOOR PANEL. THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE IS STILL ATTACHE D TO THE DOOR PANEL. if you dont unhook this cable before removing door panel you will break the plastic end of the cable if you break this you will have to replace the cable then this well involve removing the latch because the cable is hooked inside the latch hope this helps

Do not pry off main panel! It has built on tabs to hold it in place.
First ease the angular top front panel, switch rest and handle cover.
flat screw driver used carefully works fine. Unplug the switch wire connectors [3]. remove the 2 small screws. door light can be remove and disconnected as well. The door speaker plug can be done after with the main panel part way off.
Lift up on the main panel to remove. Wedge or tape the window glass to before removing the power window assembly.
remove 5 bolts on the actuator assem. Loosen the 2 bolts on the glass clamps.
