A little more specifics please. Not a good idea to run alternator with cables disconnected. Why do you feel its shortin out? engine not running remove baterry positive post and check for a itty ***** spark when you touch cable clamp to its post. That will tell you if something is drawing power from your battery.Make sure your doors are closed and ignition is off. Good luck.

Thank you, I can't think of anything on the vehicle that can kill your battery while driving if all is as should be in the charging department. Your radio is probably shutting off due to low voltage and the headlights dim for same reason. One more test and we should get it.

With engine running turn on headlights. is they dim,see how long it takes to kill the engine. EVERYTHING ELSE OFF. hERE'S THE POINT, iF A BATTERY IS HOLDING A GOOD CHARGE, THE ALTERNATOR JUST COMPENSATES FOR ANY DEMANDS.

The battery is the reservoir. . If the battery won't properly take and retain a charde(no guts) the alternator cannot take its place so it gets further and further behind on its job. Any electrical load, Like accessories(the lightest) to the headlights( heaviest at point of failure will pull what little your battery has in reserve. So, You dsid the battery was tested. Load testing is the only way to find the truth. The alternator may be damaged by a battery requiring a constant heavy charge. Still with me? If battery fails the lload test, replace it then chk alternator output with a voltmeter. Proper charging voltage shoul be between 13.6 v to 14.2 volts at the battery posts. See what that does for you. the alternator has a voltage regulator that controls alt. output. so if range is too high or too low change the alternator and you should be ok. chiefsm kragens, or checker parts stores losd test batteries and ck charging systems for free. Good Luck

It's important that the battery be kept clean from acid accumulation on its top, very important. sprinkle baking soda on wet areas and rinse thoroughly. rins away fro engine and rinse what ever else gets we. like the fender.

91 geo metro will start fine when cold but will not start when warm. Would injector cleaner put into fuel help?

Likely not. Check it for spark when its hot. It might be an ignition module or coil problem.

I need a belt diagram for a 91 Geo Metro. I am replacing the alternator belt, but need to get the first belt off.I do not know where the belt tension adjustment bolt is for the first belt.

I believe the air conditioner belt tensioner bolt is underneath the mounting bracket on the compressor, then you can remove the alternator belt by loosening the two bolts from underneath on the alternator then loosen the top bolt and be careful prying the alternator inward to loosen the belt you can short a wire connection. Remove one of the battery cables to be safe!
