The light comes on after 2 miles of driving or more. It will stay on for 5-10 minutes then it will go off. It will do this all while i'm driving. It really drives you crazy.

You need to check to see if alternator is charging.make sure drive belt not slipping and check the alternators wires and fuses.if all is good get a volt meter hook it to battery your voltage should be 13.5 to14.5 volts while engine is idling if not your voltage regulator is going bad.

My 2009 Chevy Malibu just had a new battery put in within the last 60 days. Then I needed a new transmission. Got it fixed. Today my battery light comes on and stays on. What is this?

The light means that your battery is not being charged properly. It could be that when the transmission was replaced, they alternator belt was not put in properly or tight enough. I'd do the following:
1. Check battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight.
2. Check the drive belt to the alternator. It should be tight and not slipping.
3. If neither of the above is the problem, fully charge the battery with a battery charger so you can drive it for a while. Don't drive it without charging or you may get stranded. Don't let the battery run all the way down either or it may ruin it.
3. Check alternator output by driving to a nearby auto store or the place you had it repaired. They usually can check your charging system for free. The alternator could have decided to malfunction, although it's pretty new.
Good luck...

What causes the engine service required message to come on in an s60

This is an interval message. Basically, it comes on after so many miles to remind you to do an oil change (and related service based on your miles - air filter, cabin air filter, etc.).

The Check Engine Light is when something more serious is going on.

Your light shouldn't come on when you accelerate hard, it should come on and stay on for 2 minutes.
To reset it there is a procedure to keep the odometer on TRIP 1, then turn off the ignition. Then hold it and turn on the ignition to IGN II and keep holding the button until the trip 1 resets to 0 and then let go.
That's from memory so google the process to make sure you get it right, but it was something like that on my car (2006 Volvo). I think the earlier ones had a process with the READ button on the stalk, but I'm not sure.

Battery light indicator keeps coming on? stays on for few seconds sometimes a few minute. Flickers on and off while driving or turning steering wheel

two things to be checked, the battery and the alternator. These can be checked in many auto part stores free of charge. I suspect the battery is bad.

My battery light has been coming on intermittenly. At first it would stay on for a few seconds when I would start the car and sometimes when driving. Never a problem with starting but with the hot...

The issue may be the alternator is going out.If an Autozone or Advanced auto is in your area usually they will test these for you at no charge. Would have the system tested multiple times because it may pass once then fail the next. If it repeatedly still passes. There may be an wiring problem at the pigtail plug of the alternator.

Car engine light comes on after driving 2 miles or so and cycles on every second (on and off) for about 7-8 minutes, engine when starts is rough, as if cylinder is missing, plugs have not been changed in a...

Try changing the plugs and wires first of all. If light is cycling on and off it is usually NOT an emission problem and can possibly be damaging if you continue to drive without finding the problem. If the light comes on and stays on, it usually signifies an emissions problem, which should be fixed but is not an immediate problem. However,a cycling check engine light tends to mean you should actually check the engine.

if i remember right if the battery light and check engine light is on, your alternators may be bad. your battery may just have enough to keep it running for a minute or so. you can take it out and get it tested at a auto parts store. or try charging your battery for awhile and see if it stays on longer. if this is completely wrong let me know

Brake, ABS,STC,CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON.

I had the same problem which was diagnosed incorrectly 3 times
Could be one of 2 things you may want to check
Have a tech read your codes
Have the ABS Control Module checked by a technician. If that is ok then make sure they look at the altenator
In my case, I was getting voltage spikes that were shorting out system controls -the ABS Control Module and the battery, etc. Once they put in a new altenator, the problem was fixed.
