2002 Pontiag Grand Prix GT 3.8 Runing rough and stalling at stops

2002 Pontiag Grand Prix GT 3.8 Runs rough with service engine light flashing at highway speeds, when you stop it stalls out and wont stay running unless you feather the throttle. Also the fuel gauge drops to empty and the low fuel light comes on even though it is not empty. The other day while driving the horn suddenly beeped once, and my hands were nowhere near the horn.

Put it on computer and got codes PO137, PO131, and PO300. EGR is brand new. 131, and 137 are low voltage on O2 sensors, and 300 is random misfire??

Okay now I changed both O2 sensors, and then suddenly up comes a code for mass air flow sensor, I remove and clean and now there are no codes, and it wont stay running. I pulled the egr and it is wet inside, I had just put it on a couple of moths ago, when the cat went bad, and there was nothing wrong with the old one so I put that one on and it didn't change anything. Now it has no codes and wont stay running long enough to get any codes????????

both O2 sensors and mass air flow sensor were the culprits.

code 137-circuit low input conditions .code 131-circuit low input conditions.code 300 is multiple engine misfire detected conditions.check all plugs and wires.and coils .what code 137 and 131 is telling you that you got a intake leak .do a cylinder leak down test that will tell you if intake leaking.

remove egr valve clean carbon out the intake port where egr valve goes.use a piece of clothes rack wire.use chop vac to clean up pieces of carbon. besure to check pvc make sure its not stuck open.j

2002 buick regal runs rough and stalls

Having a qualified repair shop do diagnostic's on the vehicle would be your best bet . Could be any number of thing's ,engine mangement system sensor's , fuel system , ignition system , engine mechanical systems etc.... Could be as simple as just needing spark plug's & wire's , fuel filter . But , some testing should be done by a qualified technician with a professional scanner .You don't want to get into a guessing game , one person tell's you it's this or that , because without doing testing they are just guessing .

2002 Pontiac gran prix engine stall while stopping, then it will restart but runs really rough like its misfiring, but then whn givin any gas or shifted from park or neutral it dies again.

Please include engine and mileage to help with answers. There is a sensor in the tube connecting the air box to the throttle body. Map, mass air flow sensor. It is delicate and pricey. The auto parts has a aerosol can of cleaner for about 8$ designed to clean this part. Carefully remove it from the tube housing and spray it off with the cleaner. This cleaner will attack the plentum and tube melting it causing air leaks if you use it in the tube. On a 3800 If you have coolant leaks or seeping check the plenum it may need to be replaced if it has not already been. They have a new style that is reinforced. This should smooth out the idle and clear up stalling if it's dirty. Air leaks can also cause an unstable idle and stalling at stop signs. Anti freeze can turn corrosive and should be changed. I change mine about every 3 or 4 years. Make sure if your engine contains aluminum parts ( block or heads) that you use the correct antifreeze when refilling or adding to existing levels. Green or orange. Read the label to make shure the product is correct for your car.

2002 grand prix runs rough, dies service engine

sounds like you have a vacuum leak, check all the vacuum hoses and replace any broken or kinked ones, also check around the intake manifold gasket for leaks. any air leaks after the air flow meter creates 'un-metered' air which inturn will make the car run rough and stall, hope this helps

Engine running really rough...whine sound when it isn't.

The run rough problem is due a cyl.mis firing,it becaused buy a bad plug, plug wire, coil,or even the ing.module. the servive eng.light flashing is warning you that you have a cyl.misfire that can cause damaget to your catltic converter if you continue to drive it.with may lead to why you think you have a exhaust problem,it may be colgged.
