The fuel filter is located near the rear of the vehicle, forward of the fuel tank. Start from the fuel tank and locate the fuel lines, the fuel lines are about 1/4 inch in diameter. They usually run along the inside wall of the frame. Look for a component that looks similar to the picture below. It should also be noted that the direction of the arrow on the fuel filter should be pointing in the same direction of the flow of fuel. Aftter driving for a few minutes vehicle dies, after waiting awhile it will start back up. Acts like gas but changed fuel filter, almost as if it cools a bit about 15 miutes and starts up.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump. Check fuel pressure.
Also could be the fuel pressure regulator that supplies fuel pressure on start up before your fuel pump has a chance to build up fuel pressure.

I have a Buick skylark that kept stalling while I was driving and now it won't start back up at all.I was told it might be something with the fuel intake but I don't know where to begin.

The first thing I would do is get a can of carburetor cleaner and spray it into the intake (where the air filter is) while cranking the car. If it starts then it's probably the fuel pump. Don't get too crazy with the carb cleaner, it don't take much to start it, also, make sure you remove the air filter before hand.

Continous surging and stalling

Per your description, I would suspect a fuel pump issue. When the fuel pump is running the pump impeller heats up. On an older pump the impeller can begin to seize up and momentarily stops and starts. Some times it just stops and has to cool down for a couple of minutes, then is ok for a while.
To test this theory, when the engine stalls and stops, your mechanic can use a rubber mallet and hit the bottom of the gas tank, this will free the pump impeller and the car will start again.
Or, have him install a fuel pressure gauge and go for a drive. If the pressure begins to fluctuate and drop, you know the pump is causing the issue.
Good luck, let me know.

Stalling problem

Try a new fuel filter. If that don't help best to do a fuel pressure test, pump might be getting weak.

My car stauls when come to a stop

Try to clean the fuel system and inspect the fuel senser and injectors, it sounds like there is fuel stavation which can't allow the car to move at high speed.
