Try changeing the engine temp sensor. it is on the gear box side of the engine beside the thermostat with either two or four wires going into it

Dies when I first start have to restart a few times and dies at stop light unless it gets a little gas

This is usually a problem caused by a bad water temperature sensor. There are usually 2 sensors with one working the temperature gauge and the second working engine controls.

The "cold start" sequence is similar to a choke in old cars. It needs the signal from the water sensor to trigger the cold start sequence. The cold start sequence enriches the fuel charge, adjusts timing, and increases idle speed until the engine gets a little warm.

Now if stalling when warm, you have other issues. Manifold runners are a problem on some engines.

High rev at cold (winter cold!) idle

Your toyota technician should know what a "cold starting solenoid" is. It is the little thing that works your throttle until the motor warms up and something else takes over. I'd suggest going to another technician.

When engine is cold, and 5 mins of traveling its great, but soon as it warms up, stutters and drops revs, some times the engine cuts out unless I put my foot down and hold the break.

Letting us know the make, model, and engine size of your vehicle will go a long way to letting us give you an educated guess at your problem. The data you provided is insufficient to generate any usable response.
