Question about 1998 GMC Suburban

I PUT A NEW FUEL PUMP IN A 1998 SUBURBAN TRUCK

AFTER I PUT IN I STARTED THE TRUCK I LET IT IDLE FOE 1HR OR MORE TURN IT OFF.THE NEXT DAY I TRIED TO START THE TRUCK BUT IT WILL NOT START.WHY THE TRUCK WILL NOT START?

Havent a clue??? do a basic check ,like does it have enough fuel ?? did leaving it running ,run it out of petrol .power to the pump?? does it have a spark??

My 1995 gmc suburbans service engine soon light comes on only after i drive on the freeway when i turn the car off than turn it back on the light goes out. i have just changed oil and filter problem began...

1999 Suburban turns over but engine doesn't start...


First, make sure they put oil back in the crankcase. Your motor may be seized. Next, we need to know if the fuel filter has ever been changed. If not, it's probably clogged and it will burn up the fuel pump if you continue to try to force gas into the injectors.

99 Suburban wont start


I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1999 GMC YUKON WITH THE 5.7 ENGINE HAVING TO JUMP START ALL THE TIME TO GET IT RUNNING, THE PROBLEM WITH MINE WAS THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, EVEN WHEN I REMOVED THE PUMP AND TURNED THE KEY FUEL PUMPED OUT BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO GET AND KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING.I ALSO TRIED STARTER FLUID, THE ENGINE WOULD RUN UNTIL THE FLUID BURNED OFF.SO THE SOLUTION FOR MY TRUCK WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW ITS STARTING LIKE A CHAMP

Truck will idle about 15 seconds and dies or bogs down


You need to take a pressure and volume measurement, most fuel pressures for a carburetor engine are 3 to 7 psi, then you need to make sure the volume is consistent for a period of time, 20 to 30 second of engine cranking while the fuel is transferred to a container of some sort, make sure the ignition system is disabled to prevent you from blowing up the property.

Fuel pump?


This is almost for sure a connection problem, check the relay for the fuel pump.
