1987 Subaru GL 4WD - Oil soaked air filter causing car to stutter

My 1987 Subaru GL wagon was stuttering heavily and emitting white smoke, strangely on the same part of the same hill. Then I checked the air filter and it was covered in oil. So, I bought a new filter and cleaned all the tubes, etc. Now the car is running better, but I'm still finding a little oil on the filter. Any ideas where the oil is coming from or how to stop it.?

I have a 1987 Subaru gl-10 turbo 4wd wagon that recently started smoking when i get off the hwy, curious what could be the problem. Please help

Two things could be the problem. Seals within the turbo can wear and when pressure within the turbo lowers, as when you exit the freeway, the oil pressure pushes oil into the turbo either burning it in the combustion chambers or burning it in the hot exhaust stream. Also the valve seals can be worn and the same thing as the turbo seals happens

My Volvo s60 2002 model emits a lot of whitish smoke from exhaust, yet the engine runs quite well at normal temperature. It is turbocharged by the way. Whenever i replace battery, say when battery is...

White smoke is usually steam. Check your oil? Milkey color? Yes = blown head gasket or other waaer/oil mix trouble. Dont wait to see what happens.

Thanks for your question.

87 gl wagon won't ideal but runs well. Help please

When was the last time you had a MAJOR tune up? Other than that, it could be as simple as adjusting the throttle.

Replaced broken water pump, replaced thermostat, and the temperature gauge consistently sits just below red once it's warmed up. It never seems to go into the red if I'm idling or taking short trips, but...

hi the temp gauge should sit in the lower quarter of the gauge, it has to be a faulty water temp sensor as anything else would cause it to over heat badly

The car over heats when the heat is on its a 1987 subaru gl10 wagon

This might be a bad heater core or a radiator issue.

1987 SUBARU GL WAGON 4WD WILL NOT IDLE RUNS FINE OTHERWISE

Either idle control valve/sensor, or a vacuum leak. Check all intake bolts for tightness, wiggle all hoses around with the engine running, and listen for a hissing. Try dumping some soapy water on the intake where it joins to the block, and see if it bubbles profusely. If it does, you may have an intake leak at the gasket.
