Most likely the PASSKEY anti theft has locked u out, try the reset outlined below, if that is not the problem let me know.

PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET GM CARS 1999 UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key.

SOURCE: 2004 Grand Am get nothing when attempting to start,

You may not have as much power to the starter as you think. Lights and radio run off of voltage. Your starter runs off of amperage. There may be enough volts but not enough amps to start the vehicle. Also grab a friend and have them tap on the starter while you turn and hold the key in the start position. You may also try resetting the stock security system by following the steps in the owners manual. One last trick is to shut all the doors and the hood, then put the key in the drivers door, turn the key to lock, lock, unlock, unlock.

2004 jeep overland won't turn over

Check for the current drain from the battery
Use a clamp om less than 400 amps! Check the voltage at the battery during the crank attempt.
Use a DC voltmeter greater than 9 V DC Check the voltage at the starter terminal and ground check the voltage at the starter. Greater than 9 V DC

Turn the engine over by hand to make sure it is not locked.

If any of these tests fail check for bad battery connections.

If no current drain and connections are good make sure that click is starter not some other relay not consistent with the start circuit.

Make sure that neutral saftey switch that car is in park is active

Hope this helps?

My 2004 grand Am V6 will not start. The key turns on all lights and does nothing else

check battery make sure it is 12.6 volts.have vechicle jump start if it starts battery probably weak if jump start dont work either starter solenoid or starter faulty or vechicle in theft security mode.besure to turn off radio first to keep from locking out radio when you disconnect negative battery cable to check battery and starter at the auto parts store .

04 grand cherokee limited. Started at home fine. Got to gas station and filled up, went to re-start and it clicked once with no restart. Power is fine(lights, radio, power windows, horn) everything works....

You might want to check the starter if you can try tapping it hard with something then try to start it again if it starts then all you need to do is have it changed out if nothing happens then you might also want to check and see if there is a broken fuse link going to the starter I know some vehicles have a fusible link in line with the starter it acts as a fuse but looks like a wire it will burn in half interrupting the voltage to the starter and like you stated everything else will work lights radio horn but the starter will not turn over hope this helps you.

Engine will not crank intermitantly

Crank sensor can translate heat. Not allowing restart after the turbo heat radiates in the area. Try a wad of aluminum foil in front of the crank sensor(on the block behind the turbo) . It protects it from heat and its a cheep test. If this works you can make a better sheild or leave the foil.

Not starting

It was the security Passlock system on my car as well. I did't notice that the security light had come on the first time. Look up Passlock in the owners manual.
  1. You can reset it yourself for free by turning the key to accessory position
  2. Leave for ten minutes on accessory mode.
  3. Turn car off completely
  4. Try to restart.
This fixed my problem on my own after I paid to have it fixed and it happened again the next day.
