Question about 1996 Cadillac Eldorado
I would not jump to the conclusion that this is a starter problem. This is more of an ignition problem. Check ignition circuit for open. Make sure the fuel delivery system is working (fuel pump etc). Check your engine management system for error diagnosis using some type of OBD II device.

Check fuel pressure. check crankshaft position sensor,cam shaft position sensor. you can use a ODBII diganostic tester to simplifythe task of extracting the trouble codes
