Question about 2006 Fiat 124

1 Answer

I have a 1989 camero with a 406 engine, a turbo 400 tran and a 4:10 rear end. All of them have less than 1500 miles. My problem is that the engine runs HOT, 230 DEGREES after very short distances. I've installed an oversize radiator but still have the problem. Is there suppose to be an air damper under the front bumber, and would that help. Can't find one, is there something I'm not checking??

MAKE SURE THE FAN SHROUD IS ON THE RADIATOR.WITH OUT IT U WON'T GET PROPER AIR FLOW.U MAY NEED AN ELECTRIC FAN IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR TO HELP PUSH AIR THROUGH THE RADIATOR.

Oil leak when car is on slight slope

Im not fully conversant with Turbos , but I would hazard a guess from memory that there is an oil feed from the engine to the turbo to lubricate it. I would think that the oil sump in the turbo has a seal at one or both ends. When the car is level, the oil doesn't reach the level of the oil seal, and therefore doesn't leak. When the car is on a slope, the oil will level itself out and probably be above the oil seal and then it leaks. Check if the leak occurs only when the car is pointing uphill or downhill. It may give you an idea as to which end seal is leaking.

I have 58 chevy apache and have a turbo 400 transmission. It does 60 mph at 3000 rpm's. I would like to change the entire rear end so that it goes 60 mph at approx 2200 rpm. I now have a 350 engine in...

I don't think you can get a rear end that high sped, the best I've ever seen is a 3.2 something . I had that with a 305 and my engine revved higher than 2200 with that. I think you would be better off with a 700R4 transmission from the early-mid 80's. It should bolt on and the overdrive works off an electric/vaccuum switch mounted on the firewall. Hope this helps.

Fix fans on a 406 estate 2 ltre turbo cooling system. engine is overheating and fans are not switching on to cool it down.

The 3 relays in the traingular box behind the grille suffer from bead connections. Try unplugging the engine temp sensor and see if the fans spin up. Let me know how it goes.

The XU engines have problems with clutches. Most of them wear out under 65000 miles.

I have bought a 435 hp crate engine

Keep the turbo 400 tranny and have it rebuilt but, $3000 seems a little excessive. It should not need to be re-engineered, and will easily handle your 435 HP crate engine. With regard to your gearing, I would not go outside of the 3.83 - 4.11 range. Running the 4.11s you'll need a lot of tire to keep the tires from spinning. In reference to the "1500" in your title line, if this is a truck, your going to have to put a good bit of weight in the back end to keep the tires from spinning.
