If oil is not going through engine than it is either the oil holes are plugged, or a bad oil pump in oil pan. if the pump goes bad it will not pump any oil.

What caught 94 corvette engine to lock up, oil was in the engine

Just because oil is in the engine doesn't mean that the oil was getting circulated through the engine. If there was an issue with the oil pump or if the engine was sludged up and had critical oil passages blocked, engine failure would be the end result.

1500cc engine

DO you have oil pressure when car is running. Do you have proper level of oil on dip stick. If oil pump is not working , it will need to be replaced before starting your vehicle again. If you have no oil circulating in the engine it will lock up and destroy internal engine components.

I' ve just got my driver license, and I don' know anything about cars, My car is '99 chevy escort. Do I need to warm up the car everytime I drive? Some people say "Yes" somepeople say...

There is no need to warm the car up these days. With newer engines and lighter oils the engine will start circulating the oil before you even get a chance to put the car in drive. Don't waist your time or gas by idling. In older engines it was necessary. It use to be that the engine would have to warm the oil up before it full circulated through the engine, thus if you drove it before it warmed up you would cause damage to the bearings in the engine due to lack of lubrication.

My oil has instantly stopped circulating, is there an oil pump relay or fuse and if so which one is it? I do not have an owners manual. If it is the oil pump does the motor have to come out to replace?

Are you sure no oil is circulating? If your oil gauge shows no pressure it could be the gauge or sending unit that isn't working. If no oil is circulating your engine will probably not start, since the valve lifters operate on oil pressure. If it does start it will make a lot of noise as the valves and lifters slam against the cam shaft. The oil pump works directly off of gears built into the engine. It is possible to shear the brass gear off the pump. This doesn't happen very often. Another possiblity is that the screen in the oil sump tank is completly stopped up and thus prevented the oil pump from sucking up the oil.

Oil pressure light stays on

It will take a while for the oil to circulate throughout the engine at that cold of a temperature. You may want to get an oil change done and make sure you have the proper oil for the temperatures. What happends is that the oil gets thicker and has a harder time circulating through the engine. BE VERY CAREFUL leaving the car run with the oil light on. You can blow the engine very quickly as I learned the hard way. Good luck to you and thanks for using FixYa!

Soulds like valve clicking noise for about a sec during startup the goes away. when I changed the oil and filter I heard the same thing once I started the engine to let oil circulate through engine

It's normal. When the car has sat, the oil drains down to the pan. On startup, you're starting an engine with no oil pressure (any car is like this), but once the pressure pumps up after a second or two, the noise goes away. Don't worry about this - it's normal.

Cut out while driving

Though there is no guarantee that shavings won't circulate to other areas of the engine, chances are that the majority will find their way into the sump. The gause on the oil pick-up pipe in the sump should stop big bites from circulating. The oil filter should sought out any finer particles. My recommendation would be to flush the system having made sure that all visible particles are removed from the camshaft area. An old trick is to attach a magnet to the drain plug. Is the oil warning light going out ok now?
