Car starts and runs but in reverse starts shaking SES lights up and blinks. Have changed the plugs but are getting a P0340. It's an 1998 Saturn 112,000 miles. What could it be?

DTC P0340 will set if the PCM voltage on cylinder #4 signal wire is not pulled to ground (cam signal pulse) when:

The electronic ignition (EI) module supplies a signal to the PCM whenever it determines that the #4 cylinder fired on its compression stroke. Because of opposite coil tower polarity, the simultaneous fir of #1 and #4 cylinders are of opposite polarity as well. Under most conditions, except decel, the waste spark cylinder fires before the compression cylinder in sequence. The EI module can determine this polarity sequence and voltage amplitude by using capacitive pickup plates located under the 1/4 coil. If the module senses a positive to negative sequence and high negative spike when #4 is on TDC, it pulls the PCM cam signal to ground signaling that #4 has just fired on compression. This signal along with the double pulse received from the CKP sensor, synchronizes spark and fuel timing.
Beside plugs , plug wires need to be replaced as well !

WHAT IS THE CODE P0341

This P0341 code basically means that the powertrain control module (PCM) detected a problem with the camshaft signal. The camshaft position sensor (CPS) sends a specific signal to the PCM for Top Dead Center on the compression stroke as well as signals indicating the position of the cam sensor. This is accomplished through a reluctor wheel attached to the camshaft that passes by the cam sensor. Any time that the signal to the PCM is inconsistent with what the signal should be, this code is set. NOTE: this code can also be set by extended cranking periods.

There may be no noticeable symptoms other than:
  • Poor fuel economy (if engine runs)
  • Possible no start condition
Causes A code P0341 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Cam sensor wiring routed too close to spark plug wiring (causing interference)
  • Poor wiring connection at cam sensor
  • Poor wiring connection at PCM
  • Bad cam sensor
  • Damaged reluctor wheel
Possible Solutions Often relacing the sensor fixes this code, but not necessarily. Therefore it's important to check the following:
  • Check that the wiring isn't routed too close to any secondary ignition components (coil, spark plug wires, etc.)
  • Visually inspect the wiring at the sensor for any burn marks, discoloration indicative of melting or chafing
  • Visually inspect the cam sensor for damage
  • Visually inspect the reluctor wheel through the cam sensor port (if possible) for any missing teeth or any damage
  • If reluctor isn't visible from outside the engine, visual test can only be done by removing cam shaft or intake manifold (depending on engine design)
  • If all checks out okay, then replace the sensor.

My 2004 chevy trailblazer is missing badly. Had them read the code for me at auto zone and it said I had a miss fire on the number one cylinder. I changed the plugs and it is still missing badly

Try moving the coil pack from cylinder 1 to another cylinder (swap locations) and see if the same code comes up. If code is different, then coil pack is bad. Other reasons for miss; bad injector, poor compression.
Also, I know you changed plugs already, but always use AC Delco 43-103 plugs on this vehicle.

compression piston #2 , loan a compression kit from AutoZone and test the compression , if it is under 150 PSI ? you have bad piston rings .
knock sensors sense any play in engine from crank shaft bearings all the way up to piston pins , all have bushings and rods have bearings ,
the other cause is the distributor may not be adjusted properly to time the firing sequence for the plugs in relation to fuel ratio/air mix , the 200 model is mechanical one , and the firing sequence is very important to align exactly with crank timing .
is the smoke dark or white ? if dark ? distributor need correction if white ? piston ring problem .

Will not start,code shows misfire on cyl 6 have

The coil pack is most likely the problem for the miss fire on the cylinder,but the engine most of the time will still run,just poorly.Crank shaft sensor would be the next thing to check,if there is fuel pressure present at the fuel rail.Also enough fuel pressure.
