I had a similar problem and I took my car to the dealer. They said that they have to tune the cancel switch of the cruise control and charged me $105. I don't know if I sent more or is it reasonable, but I got it working now. you can try at a local mechanic and see if they can do it for less. if not, just take it to the dealer, and they will fix it. it didn't take long for them to fix it, so obviously it is a small problem, but we don't know how to fix it.

Possibly a fuse if you haven't checked, My MAX a/c switch wouldn't light up or work so I looked at the fuses and the wrong fuse was in the blower and cig lighter so I changed them and the a/c is working perfectly so check to make sure the fuses are the correct ones or they possibly wont work!!!

He needs to resistance check the control switches and check the brake switch.

the problem is in most cases is the switch or the contact under the steering wheel that connects the switch to the main wiring in the car, that part is called the clock spring rotoating contact ribbon.

I've had the same problem on a 2004. The SET button has popped off for the second time now. Last time I bought the cluster and repaired myself. Hey, plastic parts break but my complaint is that Nissan should supply a $5 plastic button that would just pop in the spot where the old button was. As is you must buy the whole control cluster. That's just wrong!
