What eng do u have not sure if 96 had a crank sensor? should have 5.0 or 5.8 with a dis. and ecm. ecm on the base of dis. or driver side fender with a base timming of 10 deg btc + or - 2 deg

crankshaft position sensor is bad. it uses this sensor to tell the computer when to make each plug fire. no signal no fire.

I have ford crown victoria 2004, engine is missing ,code is P316. Any solution?

Yes there is a crankshaft position sensor on this truck. I had the same issue with my 96. I changed the ICM, crankshaft sensor, and the coil. Then I found out the distributor was defective. I recommend replacing the distributor with a new one and that will correct your issue.

YOUR ENGINE USES A DISTRIBUTOR STATOR TO SENSE CRANK POSITION, IT IS INSIDE THE DISTRIBUTOR, MAKE SURE U REPLACE THE TFI IGNITION MODULE WHILE U ARE IN THERE, USE ONLY FORD PARTS, THE AFTERMARKET FAIL VERY QUICKLY AND CAN CAUSE REALLY WEIRD PROBLEMS. SEE PHOTO

the crankshaft position sensor is located on the lower right side if the engine block,to the rear of the timing cover.
