Question about 2004 Chevrolet Venture Passanger

3 Answers

2002 Chevy Venture - Wipers stopped in mid swipe and won't work. When placed in original position, they bounce slightly and won't wipe. The driver's blade had been loose several times and I tightened it a few times. Began when they were frozen once. wipers nolonger move, sometimes partially move.  Motor is working fine.  There is a pin in the contraption between the top of the motor and the arm that is connected to it.  The pin seems to have dropped or the bolt on top of the motor is just loose.  Anybody seen this AND fixed it?

Fixed it... Used a wood chisel to pop the pin back into place from the bottom. It had dropped down below the plate that it needed to catch on.

If you cannot get the pin out, and get it to stay in place - or if there is a bolt that is supposed to help hold it together, if you have the bolt, try to put it back together - if not, take it to a parts store and see if there is a replacement pin and bolt for it -

The only fix for this is to replace the wiper transmission, and if the wiper arms are stripped bad enough then they will have to be replaced too. They have very fine splines and are easy to strip. Good Luck

the linkage has disconnected somewhere. you need to remove the wiper arms and the panel(s) which cover the mechanism. the problem and the solution will be much clearer then.

If you can move the wiper blades by hand, you probably broke-stripped the gear in the wiper motor.

Replacing a 2002 Chevy Venture front wiper motor

Look online for the wiper module for this model. This is a common issue to include operation without the switch being activated. Everything is controlled by the module which screws directly on the front of the wiper motor by 3 torx head screws and measures about 4" x 4" and is very easy to install. The motor should be on the firewall. The modules run anywhere between $35 and 65. Let me know if you need anything else.

While the wipers are in the parked state, just loosen off (or remove) the wiper arm from the drive spigot and re-position the driverside wiper arm to the correct position.
Re-tighten arm drive mount and all should be well.

I am trying to replace the front wiper motor for my 2001 chevy venture. The wipers are not parking fully down, and the intermittent setting parks the wipers about half way up until it is ready to wipe...

Check that you have connected the wiper motor correctly - ensure that you havent inadvertently got the polarity wrong!.
Leave the wiper arms off until you get the motor to run and park using the normal wiper on/off switch.
The motor 'park' control switching is normally an integral part of the motor drive gear and is not adjustable.
During your testing, affix a temporary indicator pointer to the end of a wiper arm drive shaft (use masking tape or similar) to prevent damage to motor or levers.

There should be a circuit breaker which shuts down the wipers when they are frozen. Sounds like the breaker didn't do its job and the wiper motor fried. My guess is it needs replacing.
