It is difficult for one's first time. Also dirt, and mud builds up in this area, and really makes for a fun(?) time.

Before I advise you on how to do this, I would like to give you a few tips.

1.There is an inertia switch on the passenger floor side. Would be right about where your feet usually rest. Once you find it, disconnect the electrical connector to it, start the truck, and run it until it dies. It's also best to try to start the truck a couple of more times, to be assured that no pressure is left.

If you don't, the fuel is under pressure, and once you get the filter loose, gas will spray all over!
NO drop lights! No lit cigarettes Anywhere near, No Nothing that could ignite gasoline!

(After replacing the fuel filter, be sure to reconnect this electrical connector) Also remove the gas cap, and you will need a drip pan underneath as fuel will still drip out.
Have the front of the vehicle higher than the rear. USE jackstands, and put wheel chocks behind the rear tires.

2.It's best to use the plastic tool made for this, rather than the metal tool. The plastic tool is thinner, and works better.

3.I would like you to go to this link, and read the entire page. There are photos for this procedure, and tips,

Running rough

Most likely it would be the fuel filter. Sometimes debris can get stuck in the filter and clog it up. Letting it sit lets debris settle hence the cold start being fine. I suggest changing the fuel filter. If that does not fix the problem change the pump also. If you are looking for a slim chance but possible cheap fix try putting some fuel injector cleaner through the system. This might fix the problem even if it is the fuel filter but be warned it is a temporary fix and the fuel injector cleaner does leave a gummy substance on the fuel filter and might make your problem worse. So if you choose this route you should change your fuel filter in the not to distant future.

Where is the fuel filter located on 1986 cressida what does it look like? and how hard to change

Is located underneath the car by the driver side, looks like a fuel filter and requires special tools (tubing wrenches) if you don't use those tools there is a lot chances that damage to the lines will be inflicted, if that happen the fuel lines are discontinue.

Sorry for tell you the way it is, better now before something happen. good look !!

Where is the fuel filter located. By chance is it

Hi,

The fuel filter is in the fuel line back by the fuel tank either on the passenger side or driver side of car under the vehicle. It almost looks like a pop can with lines going in one side and out the other side.

Thank you !!

85 skyhawk wanted to cut out/stahl when accelerated, drove a quarter mile, put in reverse to back in driveway-it died, tried to start-kept firing off, but wouldn't stay running?

Fuel supply is compromised. Start with simple and work toward complicated. Change fuel filters first while looking for water in the filters. Try a fuel additve. Do not try to siphon water out the tank chances are you'll mess up your gas gauge and sending unit. My money is on the filters.

When I try to start my 03 sierra it struggles to fire up, like it is starving for gas, on my second attempt it fires up like normal. What causes this?

Have a look at the distributer cap and rotor button,if they have carbon build up or corrosion then replace them. Also listen for the fuel pump to stop before cranking the engine,if it starts better when you do this try a new fuel filter.

When idling my 2003 Acura TL the engine seems to want to almost die, also when i got on the freeway it seem to pull hard and **** like it was having trouble shifting into 5th gear. It also seems to run...

You may need to change the coil pack(s) or modular. The modular is what the coil pack(s) mount to. I'm not familiar with that engine so you may have a 3 piece coil pack, or a 1 piece. (If it doesn't have a distributor). You may first try replacing the coil wire. There is a good chance that is loose, or bad. It could also be the coil itself. Try the coil wire and if it still acts up, then try the others. Also, when you changed the plugs, did you put new plug wires? When I do a tune up on my vehicles, I change the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, (coil pack, modular), whichever is equipped, oil, oil filter, tranny fluid and filter with gasket, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket oil filter, and fuel filter. Try changing the fuel filter as well, as plugged or dirty fuel filters can cause stall outs. I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing fixya.com for answers.
