Question about 1999 Ford Super Duty F 450

1 Answer

I have a 1989 Ford F 450 Super Duty, 7.3.L DSL Can you tell me where the Oil Pressure sending unit, and the Water Temp. sending unit are located at on this motor? The Oil Pressure gauge is only fluttering at times, most of the time it is at dead left gauge. The Coolant Temp Gauge is completely dead. Was thinking that the sending units are bad. Are there any common problems with this kind of thing, if so, what are your recommendations? Thanks Rick

Oil pressure sending unit is close to oil filter.temp sending unit on front of intake.check fuses for temp sending unit and coolant temp gauges if all is good make sure grounding is good.if grounds good your gauges is faulty.

Oil light stays on for a long time, and sometimes does not go off before I get where I'm going. Just bought the truck, has 99000 miles on it. Runs great. Could there be a problem? Email: ...

Could be oil pressure sending unit. Check as soon as possible, if it is a lack of oil pressure the longer you drive it the greater the engine damage.

MY ford 2000 f-350 super duty 10 cyl. Temp gage not working changed sensor, still nothing. what should i look at next

The only other things would be the gauge itself or the wiring to and from the gauge to the sending unit. Make sure the temp sending unit was changed, not the coolant temp sensor, for the computer.

I have a 1999 Ford F450 super duty diesel. It

Replace the glowplug relay. Its faulty. The glow plugs stay on until engine warms up.The engine temp switch then activates the relay to switch off.So it could be the temp switch also faulty.

Hard Starting

first thing i would check is if your glow plugs are actually any good. next i would check your injectors, then the injector pump make sure it's got the needed pressure. change the fuel filter and reprime the system. if the problem still occurs then look for leaks on the fuel system considering it will start with ether tells me it's somehow losing it's prime.

1989 Ford F150 Instrument Cluster Problem

Some of the gauges are on the same fuse as the dome light; check the fuses. The other main source of gauge problems for this vintage F150 is the sending units and I don't use the term sending unit lightly, so when you go to the parts store make sure you say you are looking for sending units not sensors (sensors hook to the computer) sending units are of 2 types for this vintage F150, lights and guages you need the ones for gauges, the oil sending unit is about 4 dollars and the coolant temp sending unit for a guage is about the same.

I have 4 fords and you will come to understand that the wiring is a jury rig, all this come out when they are the age of your 1989 PU.
