2000 Mazda MPV Engine overheating

Head gasket is bad / leaking.
adding fluid on a regular basis is the first clue.
The coolant is seeping into the combustion chamber via a bad head gasket... and running out the tailpipe.

Electric cooling fans will work.

The fans are actuated by coolant temp in the radiator. It is possible to have overheated coolant in the radiator, causing the steam, and your engine not overheating...the temp sensor for your engine is reflecting the engine temp, not the temp of the coolant in the radiator. You problem could be a bad temp sensor at the radiator...not allowing the fans to come on. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

Why is the coolant coming out of the overflow bottle

make sure there is no coolant leak. is the radiator fan running? it should run whenever the A/C is on. if not, that will be the problem. Engine running, A/C on, see if the fan is running, if not get a long rod, broom handle ect and tap on the motor, if it starts to spin or starts running, replace the fan assy.

if the fan is working properly, the only thing left to check is the radiator...
