No there is not a drain for the transmission. You will have to pull the trans pan to change the fluid. Good Luck.

Not for an auto transmission. You need to drop the pan to drain fluid and service the transmission.

How to remove auto transmission on 2006 1500 silverado just rwd....

Disconnect battery > remove driveline> catch fluid with container
that may come out rear shaft or use a shaft fluid cap > remove torque converter bolts> remove housing bolts that connect trans to
engine >remove cross member use floor jack or similar to lower trans don't forget to remove dipstick assembly. Some trans have
a drain plug if so drain fluid prior to removal.install is reverse fill with factory GM trans fluid not aftermarket.after filling shift into all
gears twice check fluid in park or neutral if okay then check for leaks if no leaks lower truck and test drive check fluid once more
on level ground.
Good luck on your journey.

Transmission fluid

Dropping the transmission pan will get the best results. Your truck will hold around 16qts of fluid. I would recommend removin the transmission pan and replacing the trans filter and then filling it back up with new fluid

How much gear oil does the transfer case on a 1999 jeep grand cherokee

You will need to buy three quarts but you won't use all of it. Make sure that you can open the fill plug BEFORE you drain it to avoid problems. After draining, replace the drain plug and fill with Dexron III or Dex/Mercon (both are automatic trans fluids). Fill on a level surface 'till the fluid reaches the bottom lip of the fill plug. For severe service, I always replace part of the trans fluid with Lucas trans conditioner.

Not sure i am locating the oil drain plug or the auto trans drain plug on my 2006 chevy silverado 1500. i am almost certain it is the oil drain plug but want to make absolute certain before i drain it....

Transmissions are drained by removing the pan itself. A new filter is to be installed upon draining. That is why there is no drain pan plug. The Chevy Powerglides were the last American made car with a drain plug in the 1965

Does my chevy silverado 2004 v8 2wd ls transmission have a filter and drain plug

No drain plug, the filter is inside trans. Remove trans oil pan (it will be full of tran fluid so loosen bolts on one end and work your way to other end) May have to take bolts out of a cross member and slid it back to get to all the pan bolts. The filter is flat and you'll see it once the pan is dropped. Pull straight down to remove. Clean out sludge and old fluid from pan and scrape old gasket off.
Push new filter into place. Its a good idea to use gasket sealer to help keep it from leaking and to help hold gasket in place so bolt holes stay lined up while bolting up pan. Tighten all bolts evenly. Then refill tran with the fluid your service manual list. Operate your truck in all gears (shifting back and forth) and recheck trans fluid level. Its not a hard job to change filter and fluid. If you can change your own motor oil and have a rachet and sockets then you couldnt have any problems. Just get your filter and trans fluid from your local auto parts store like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts.
