It felt like fuel filter was dirty lost power and started to shake then died change it it started but it was still rough. I let it sit for 15 min it ran a little better then died out again. It then sat for 3 hrs it ran alot better and then it did it again. If the fuel pump gets hot i think it is original one would that make it do it. when the truck gets warm that when it has its problems.

Fuel filters are very efficient these days because of injector systems and thrier componants. Dirt, water or even running a fuel take consistantly low can cause not onlyallow condensation but also allow the fuel pump to draw air into the systemandair in the fuel filter likes to hang around allowing air to be introduced with the fuel as it passes through. Sny dirt or such that the fuell Pump attracts will also start to accumulate around the pump and eventually inhibit fuel pump rfficiency. Any heat affects the air in the system in turn disrupting fuel flow. So, in summary, yes you are correct about heat. And now hopefully you understand how. Good Luck and don't attempt to clean out a fuel filter to save money. you risk passing any dirt or ****, causing more extensive furl system problems. :)

Hook up a fuel pressure guage to the fuel line and see if you have constant pressure according to your vehicle specs.
Seems like the pump doesn't hold pressure and fails.
Hope this helps

I'd use a gage and check correct fuel pressure? 2.9L engine, my info says 35--45 psi. If fuel pump has a problem, make sure gas tank is clean?
The engine cranks ok, but, won't start? Did you check spark at the plugs engine cranking? I'm just trying to decide if you have more than one issue?

Check the fuel pressure to the fuel injectors to see if it is within specs.

Also, check that the fuel injectors are not worn out or leaking causing a flood condition.

TRUCK DIED WHILE DRIVING

If you felt a loss of power, you had to press on the gas harder before it died, you may want to check on the fuel filter.  Otherwise you may want to check on the fast idle valve or pcv if it needs cleaning, or vacuum hoses if they have leaks which may be the cause of the rough idle if its an EFI engine.

Starts fine when cold, after running dies on idle then wont start

Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.
